Total 600 patients diagnosed in Diabetes Awareness Camp organized by Jehangir Hospital
An awareness camp to screen for diabetes was held at Vithalwadi, a village on Nagar road around 50 kilometers from Pune. Reports suggest that the prevalence of type 2 diabetes in rural areas in India is increasing. Thus, to raise awareness about diabetes and to screen for patients, a camp was held at Vithalwadi on the 7th of November, 2016. Free testing for blood sugar was offered to all.
The villagers were very enthusiastic about the camp and came in large numbers. A total of around 600 people (men and women) underwent an assessment for body mass index, testing of blood glucose and also a medical check including an assessment of blood sugar. The data is being entered to assess number of newly diagnosed patients with diabetes.
