Gurgaon: A student of BBA was allegedly beaten to death while dancing to the tunes of a DJ on the dance floor. According to the police, the deceased has been identified as Rohit Bhardwaj, a resident of Krishna Colony near Sector 4 of Gurgaon.
He was attending the birthday party of one of his friends, Ankit, on Monday night. There were 25 to 30 people present when the incident occurred.
“While on the dance floor, the victim got involved in a verbal duel with some of his friends. The spat took an ugly turn, following which a group of six to seven youths allegedly beat up Ankit with batons and hockey sticks,” said Hawa Singh, ACP, Crime, and spokesperson of Gurgaon police.
The accused were all drunk and the brawl reportedly broke out over a song that they wanted to be played by the DJ.
“We have arrested Amit Kumar alias Dudhu; Dhruv and Raju under IPC section of 302. We are trying to identify the remaining miscreants,” Hawa Singh said.
The incident was reportedly triggered by the heat of the moment. The local police have conducted a post-mortem of the deceased. The report reveals a fracture on the skull, which is being believed to be the cause of death.
