New Jersey: Vichar Manthan event was organized at Ronak restaurant, in West Windsor Township, NJ on 27th March, 2016. Many organization, leaders attended the event. Experts of various participants in this churning of ideas follow. It should be noted that the Ideas expressed should not be construed to be representative of the organization they are members of.
Rajyalaxmiji representing Om Kriya Yog of Barphani Dham Ramandacharya Sampraday, expressed deep concern over the degradation while using the names of Indian Freedom Fighter. Specifically how Shashi Tharur during his speech in JNU compared Kanhaya Kumar to Shadeed Bhagat Singh. Bhagat Singh name is synonymous to word Shaheed. His legacy prompted youth in India to continue fighting for India’s independence and he remains an influence on young people in modern India, as well as the inspiration. She further stated that youth is often “Questions the authority, environment around them, so shall we state that all atheists and leftist are Sardar Bhagat Singh”. Her next point was Degradation of Hindutva in Nepal. How the constitution of napal has been manipulated by the current government, “Nepal constitution states that any changes to the constitution must have 40% consensus of all Nepali population” . She appealed to all Hindus all over the world to give protect to Nepal and Nepali people.
Satya Nemana spoke about GHHF activties at www.SaveTemples.org to protect the temples and Hinduism in India by taking care of the temples with the help of the Endowments Dept by working with the Govt.
VilasReddy Jambula talked about the current issues in Hyderabad specific to Rohit Vemula case in the Univ of Hyderabad, demanding for further investigation and JNU Students Union president Kanhaiya Kumar gave on hate speech on feb 9th and feb 10th, special investigation needed for feb 9th meeting speech. Condemned against AIMIM chief Owaisi for refusing to say ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’, again.
Pramod Bhagatji, of Shakti Peetha mentioned the great work done by Shakti Peetha in the education and the resulting empowerment of youth. The negative press about India can be attributed to sabotage the vanguard attempt of the BJP to ensure an era of economic prosperity by development funded by investment and legislation.
Jhaji from Nepal indicted that we are all Hindus. Revolution by violence is self defeating because the cost does not measure up to the benefits especially if economic prosperity is the barometer which it is to be measured by. We may hail from different countries or places and have different languages and preferences but we are united by a one bond that is for the uplifting of society or humanity not at the expense of another but together to a higher quality of life.
Prathiban Vardhan indicated that tolerance is a relative or depends on ones paradigm. It is like pain. I guess one level of tolerance or threshold of pain is usually attributed to the word “painful” when we use it. So is it with the word tolerance. As a nation, as a people and as a religion we are as tolerant as any other. One may argue too tolerant. We may be guilty of being self effacing and complacent. If we cease to be this we are accused of being intolerant?! ( Is this a question or an expression of indignation and outrage is left to you to ascertain; depending upon your degree of feeling—like tolerance)
Vishnu spoke about Modiji. In modern times no one leader has captured the imagination of the people and put an impetus in all that: “ I am an Indian, I am proud of my history, my culture, my religion, my who I am and I don’t need the condescending assurance of any one. I have arrived.”
Suri….. Spoke on the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. He indicated that the defeatist attitude of the opposition must be opposed. They, the opposition, have no constructive criticism to offer nor propose an alternative. They are basically abiding there time thinking ,“ this too as with all things will pass.” We have to make sure that we do not forget and take them to task at every opportiunity, relentlessy.
Lakshimi Narayan Seugl : Spoke on about false intolerance in India and the need to defuse the negative Publicity about India , like the JNU controversy. Issues like this will rise continually. It should be addressed and we should move on. If the media wants to fan the embers of these inconsequential incidents the government should not fall prey to debate format analysis. Which does not generate any record of who said what or the position of the various participants – individuals, political parties, activist, and organizations.
Arish Sahom spoke about the media as to whether they are good, bad or simply ugly for India. It seems that they have an agenda which is quite baffling to discern at times. Sensationalism seems to be their pursuit bet covertly and with great stealth they seem to discredit any positive development or complete ignore them when not possible to discredit.
On Intolerance in India
A discussion held on Hindu Unity day on March 27,2017 at Ronak Restaurant in West Windsor, NJ. I analyzed the Intolerance issue going on in India currently. Our Observations are:
When we talk about intolerance then we have to mention in what context we are talking Intolerance. Context may be Social, Religious, Media, National, Political etc.
Social -> On social issues (women, education, girl child etc.) various communities are co-existing peacefully from long time and India was always tolerant and still it is very tolerant. No change of the status. There should be some standards or guidelines to decide whether these issues can be decided based on these standards or guidelines, if these standards or non-existent then best acceptable practices should be followed to solve such issues.
Religious -> We should consider Inter-Religious or Intra-Religious tolerance. Inter Religious means, among all the Religions. On this front tolerance has increased, you can see that many of the Bollywood Muslim Personalities married to Hindu Women and living peacefully. Also in Intra-Religion tolerance has increased in Hindus as you can see that inter caste Marriages are increasing in Hindus and being considered acceptable. While in Muslim Religion, Intolerance has increased as in Pakistan and other places, Sunnis can’t tolerate other sects of Muslim i.e. Shiites, Ahmadiya, Wahhabis etc.
Media -> Media has become more intolerant now and this is because of business conflict. Every sensitive information has the business proposition for media so they high light these sensitive issues ASAP. Also due to internet, information is passing fast. Besides that educational level of Reporters generates sensitive information and creates friction in the Society.
National Issue -> National issue India was always Intolerant and uncompromising. As in USA we can bear T-Shirt or Shirt with US Flag but in India we can’t and it is written in constitution. So on various National issues guidelines are mentioned in Constitution that should be followed.
Political Issues -> India being Secular and Free Country, Citizens are free to express their opinions. Free does not mean that whatever comes in mind of person can express whether it is anti-nation, anti-other religion or to hurt other Citizen. Expression should be sophisticated and should not have abusive tone. I believe currently people are tolerant more as long as freedom is within the boundary of India Constitution.
Final Note -> I believe as education has spread in majority of Indians and Internet has reached to village level, the tolerance in Indian has increased. Only Media is portraying differently to gain some business mileage.
