Pune: Kala Vikas Parishad located at Gadag, the birthplace of Bharatratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, recently awarded this year’s Bharatratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi National Award to well known classical vocalist of Kirana Gharana Pt. Kaivalyakumar. Renowned Sitarist of Dharwad, Ustad Shafiq Khan was also honored on this day.
The award was presented at the hands of Vijay Kumar Gaddi, Businessman & BJP leader from Gadag and Dr. G.B Patil, Administartor of Shivanand Education Society, Gadag.
Every year, Kala Vikas Parishad awards noted classical art performers for their contribution in this field to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharatratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi. The award comprises of a memento, citation, Mysori Pagdi and a shawl.

This award ceremony was followed by a melodious concert by Pt. Kaivalyakumar.
