Pune: In order to progress toward advanced technology and train more graduates for the industry, the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the Centre For Industry 4.0 (C4i4 Lab Pune) signed an MOU on August 6, 2019 in Pune.
Dignitaries including Col. (Retd.) A.K. Nath, Executive Director of C-DAC (Corporate Strategy), Dattatraya Navalgundkar, Director, Samarth Udyog Technology Forum, Rahul Kirloskar, Steering Committee member, C4i4, Dr. Nitin Karmalkar, Vice-Chancellor of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), Basavaraj Hooli, Senior Consultant, C-DAC and Pradeep Kopardekar, C4i4 Lab, were present at the occasion.
By joining hands, C-DAC and C4i4 will introduce unique industry 4.0 training courses, which will help train students, faculties and industry officials for the rapid up-gradation in IT as well as manufacturing domain. C-DAC will organize these courses and experts from both the organizations will train the participants in the advancement in the said fields.
Nath said, “In the manufacturing industry there is a dearth of skills and manpower and it needs to be reorganized. The demand is more than the production and we have progressed partially in advance technology.”
Karmalkar said, “I encourage industries to indulge in training and teaching programs through subject experts to enhance the workforce.”
Laying stress on the challenges, Rahul Kirloskar stated, “The organizations today are in need of graduates who can contribute to the industry. Some of the challenges we need to counter include training of graduates and making people who have been in the industry for past 30-40 years understand rapid digitization and up-gradation. For that, these training programs will be helpful.”
Speaking at the event, Basavaraj Hooli said, “Our main objective is digitization of the manufacturing industry. We want to contribute to the Skill India campaign and for that we need to re-skill, up-skill and cross-skill about 40 percent of the workforce in the industry in India.”
