<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>PUNE: </strong>Molding Solutions, with its brands Männer, Foboha, Synventive, Thermoplay, Gammaflux, and Priamus, has officially opened its new greenfield facility in India, further expanding its international production and service footprint. The site represents a key element of the company’s long-term strategy and significantly strengthens its global competitiveness in hot runner systems.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The <strong>India Grand Opening</strong> took place on <strong>January 20, 2026</strong>, marked by a traditional Indian inauguration ceremony. On <strong>January 21, 2026</strong>, customers and partners were invited to a <strong>customer event to gain</strong> insights into the new facility and its technical capabilities.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>India as a Key Growth Market</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">India is one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing markets for injection molding applications. With the new site, Molding Solutions has moved closer to customers in the region while creating a strong foundation for sustainable growth. The investment is aimed at shortening lead times, expanding production capacity, and further enhancing service levels.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The global market for hot runner systems and related injection molding technologies is estimated to be in the hundreds of millions of dollars, with Molding Solutions currently holding a market share of below 10 percent globally. In India, the company estimates the addressable market at approximately USD 200 million, with its current market share in the 15–20 percent range, reflecting strong growth momentum in the region.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">While Molding Solutions is already strongly positioned in the automotive sector – particularly through the Synventive brand – the company sees its fastest growth in medical, healthcare, FMCG and electronic applications, driven by rising demand for high-precision molded components and advanced manufacturing standards.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Local-for-Local as Part of the Global Production Strategy</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Until now, a large share of the Indian market has been served from Molding Solutions’ production facilities in China. The new site significantly reduces this dependency and enables a consistent local-for-local approach. The India facility will play a central role in supplying not only the domestic market but also the wider Asian region, including Southeast Asia, Japan, and South Korea, while China will continue to serve its domestic market independently.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Molding Solutions’ leadership highlighted that India is now set to become the company’s primary manufacturing and service hub for Asia (excluding China), strengthening supply chain resilience and reducing reliance on cross-border imports.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">From India, Molding Solutions now supplies both the domestic market and other Asian countries, while global production capacity has been expanded without replacing existing locations.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">&#8220;<em>India is one of our most important growth markets worldwide. With this new facility, we are creating the conditions for shorter lead times, greater flexibility, and even closer technical collaboration with our customers in the region while maintaining our global standards</em>,” says <strong>Marcello Vendemiati, President of Molding Solutions.</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Comprehensive Hot Runner Capabilities on Site</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The new facility provides the full range of capabilities for the development, manufacturing, and support of hot runner systems. At the start of operations, systems from the Synventive and Thermoplay brands are being manufactured and supported on-site.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Currently, the Pune facility is capable of manufacturing approximately 50 percent of the company’s product portfolio, with plans to expand to full product range coverage as market demand grows and local operations scale further.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Globally Connected, Locally Focused</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At launch, the site employs a team covering engineering, operations, sales, after-sales service, and administration. Teams are in ongoing exchange with Molding Solutions’ global network in Europe, China, and the United States, working in continuous exchange.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Over the next few years, the company expects its shop-floor workforce to grow to around 120 employees, with total headcount including engineering, sales, and administrative teams reaching up to 250 professionals, subject to market growth. By the end of 2026, staffing levels are projected to reach approximately 220 employees.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Molding Solutions has already received strong interest from customers, with over 120 companies expected to visit the new facility as part of its customer engagement programme following the inauguration.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At the same time, the local Indian team brings deep knowledge of regional market requirements, enabling highly responsive and customer-focused technical support.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Molding Solutions invested in a 16,000-square-meter production and office facility with a modern machinery fleet.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Investment, R&amp;D, and Long-Term Expansion Outlook</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Molding Solutions has invested approximately&nbsp;<strong>USD 30 million</strong>&nbsp;to date in the Pune facility, primarily in high-precision machinery, production systems, and fixed manufacturing infrastructure. The company expects total investment in the site to reach&nbsp;<strong>USD 50 million</strong>&nbsp;as the facility continues to scale.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">At a global level, the group invests close to&nbsp;<strong>5 percent of annual revenue into research and development,</strong>&nbsp;amounting to approximately&nbsp;<strong>USD 20 million per year,</strong>&nbsp;focused on new technologies, product innovation, and advanced manufacturing solutions.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Looking ahead, the company plans to further expand manufacturing scope, local engineering capabilities, and R&amp;D activities in India. Leadership noted that India is expected to evolve into&nbsp;<strong>a major global design and manufacturing hub for tooling and injection molding technologies,</strong>&nbsp;shifting from an import-driven model to one increasingly focused on domestic production and exports.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Adani Cement was the lead cement supplier in the project with ~65,000 metric tonnes, making it a key contributor to the structural backbone of the bridge. The cement supplied was Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC) 43 Grade, known for its high strength, durability, and consistent quality, making it ideal for complex and large-scale infrastructure exposed to extreme climatic and geological conditions.</p>

Developed as part of KPIT’s broader efforts in talent transformation, the studio is an extension of the company’s NOVA program—an industry-academia initiative aimed at equipping engineering students with real-world, future-ready skills in automotive technology.</p>

The Mobility Innovation Studio represents the next phase of this engagement making industry-aligned skilling more accessible to engineering students.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>INDIA:</strong> UBS India hosted its first-ever in-office campus hackathon, inviting young talent from across the country to solve real-world challenges through technology and innovation.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Over 5,000 students from leading academic institutions across India participated in a preliminary coding assessment. Of these, 129 students were shortlisted from 17 campuses, grouped into 22 teams, and invited to UBS’s offices in Mumbai and Pune for a 24-hour non-stop challenge.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Participants tackled live problem statements focused on social impact, aligned with UBS India’s purpose of reimagining the power of investing to create a better world. The key themes included:</p>



<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Connecting classrooms to industry experts to enhance learning outcomes</li>



<li>Creating an upskilling platform to empower youth with better career opportunities</li>



<li>Creating a tech-enabled donation system to streamline the delivery of educational resources</li>
</ul>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Throughout the hackathon, UBS Distinguished Engineers mentored the participants, helping them understand the real-world context of the challenges, guiding them during brainstorming sessions, and offering support to overcome technical hurdles. While the ideas and execution remained entirely student-led, the mentors played a key role in helping teams navigate and refine their solutions based on practical insights.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The top three teams presented solutions using cutting-edge technologies, including AI models and blockchain, to address pressing issues in India’s ed-tech landscape. High-potential ideas will be considered for Minimum Viable Product (MVP) development and further refinement.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The winning teams were felicitated by the UBS India leadership team:</p>

<li><span style="box-sizing: border-box; margin: 0px; padding: 0px;"><strong>High-Speed</strong></span><strong> Automation Manufacturing Process</strong>: Leverage automation, AI, and data-driven manufacturing, integrating real-time monitoring, machine vision, robotic systems, automated material handling, and laser welding to enhance efficiency, accelerate production, and embrace sustainability by minimizing carbon footprint.</li>



<li><strong>Adoption of Advanced Cell Chemistry</strong>: To meet the evolving needs of the market, the plant will adopt a cell chemistry &amp; technology-agnostic approach with the capability of handling high energy density cells, blade cells, future cell chemistry cells, including Na-ion, LMFP, LTO, etc.</li>



<li><strong>Next-Gen Products</strong>: The products rolling out from the plant will cater to a variety of electric vehicles, including EV passenger vehicles, EV buses, EV trucks, and grid-scale renewable plants with Advanced Battery Packs &amp; Liquid Cooled BESS Container Solutions.</li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>MUMBAI:</strong> In an exceptional achievement, Mumbai-based high school robotics team Sigma 9692 has won the prestigious Engineering Inspiration Award at the FIRST Robotics Midwestern Regional Championship held in Chicago, USA. With this remarkable victory, Team Sigma has qualified to represent India at the FIRST World Championship in Houston from April 16–19, 2025.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Remarkably, this is only Team Sigma’s second year participating, a feat rarely accomplished by veteran teams globally. The team comprises 27 dedicated students, including 25 from 13 different schools in Mumbai, and two students working remotely from Indore and Delhi.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">This year’s robotics challenge, “Reefscape,” tasked students with designing robots to place coral pieces at heights reaching 7 feet. Team Sigma’s robot, affectionately named “Spongebot,” excelled by ranking first in coral placement at the highest level and third in autonomous coding consistency. The robot features an innovative four-wheel swerve drive system, achieving speeds of 7 meters/second, and boasts an elevator mechanism that reaches 8 feet in just 0.5 seconds.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Beyond competition, Team Sigma has made a significant social impact, introducing robotics and coding to over 3,000 underserved students across Mumbai in two years. The team successfully raised ₹20 lakh from Indian corporates, setting up robotics labs in 10 underserved schools. Their outreach gained recognition from Maharashtra’s Skill Development Ministry, leading them to conduct a webinar on coding for 50,000 ITI students state-wide. Impressed by their initiative, Maharashtra’s Chief Minister personally congratulated the team.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>MUMBAI:</strong> <a href="https://www.se.com/uk/en/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Schneider Electric,</a> the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has today announced the launch of its new Galaxy VXL – a highly efficient, compact, modular, scalable, and redundant 500-1250 kW (400V) 3-phase uninterruptible power supply (UPS), complete with enhanced cybersecurity, software, and safety features.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The Galaxy VXL UPS redefines power protection with a compact 1.2m² footprint and industry-leading 1042 kW/m² power density. Designed for AI, hyperscale data centers, and critical infrastructure, it supports up to 1.25 MW per frame and scales to 5 MW with four units in parallel, maximizing uptime and efficiency. It delivers 99% efficiency in E-conversion mode and 97.5% in double conversion mode, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions while ensuring Class-1 power protection. With a 52% smaller footprint, its modular, N+1 redundant design enhances availability by up to 10x. Scalable power modules minimize CapEx and support future expansion. It is compatible with Lithium-ion and VRLA batteries, and the Live Swap function ensures seamless maintenance and uptime. Furthermore, the EcoStruxure IT integration enables secure remote monitoring with IEC 62443-4-2 certified cybersecurity, offering a resilient, flexible, and efficient power solution.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Key features and benefits</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Schneider Electric’s Galaxy VXL UPS has been designed to offer record-breaking power densities and an AI-ready power architecture for the most energy-intensive workloads. For the first time, this new UPS provides customers 1.25mw scalable and modular solution with 125kw/3U power modules in a 1.2m<sup>2 </sup>footprint, while being capable of supporting up to 1.25 MW of critical load in one frame and up to 5 MW with 4 units in parallel in only 4.8 M2 space. Key benefits include:</p>

<li><strong>Modular, scalable, high-power design: </strong>With a power density of 1042 kW per squared meter, customers can deploy a 1.25 MW modular UPS in a single frame, and add power modules incrementally via pay-as-you-grow flexibility.</li>



<li><strong>Smaller footprint:</strong> Standing at 1.2m<sup>2</sup>, Galaxy VXL has a 52% footprint improvement compared with the industry average, with full front access and no rear clearance, offering better power and space utilization.</li>



<li><strong>Increased efficiency and sustainability: </strong>Galaxy VXL provides up to 99% efficiency in eConversion mode and up to 97.5% efficiency in double conversion mode. Its compact footprint means raw material reduction, less packaging, and includes SPoT (Smart Power Test) mode for UPS and Power Module testing, saving electricity.</li>



<li>Lower CapEx and OpEx: Improved operational and energy efficiencies provide a catalyst for lower electricity bills, and ease of service/maintenance equates to lower labor costs for a better TCO.</li>



<li><strong>Reinforced, resilient design: </strong>Galaxy VXL utilizes conformal-coated boards, a 100kA short circuit rating, and an optional seismic kit for a robust mechanical design.</li>



<li><strong>Enhanced cybersecurity and safety:</strong> Galaxy VXL is certified to the latest IEC 62443-4-2 security standards and includes Live Swap technology to allow power module replacements, with zero downtime.</li>
