The Community Development Financial Institutions Fund (CDFI Fund) invites certified Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) to join the federal Promise Zones team for a webinar to learn about, and provide comment on, new tools for gathering information on community development projects being planned as part of comprehensive revitalization strategies in high poverty areas.
Specifically, the Promise Zone team seeks comments on how the Community Development Marketplace database could be most useful to CDFIs seeking investment opportunities, developing products and services, and understanding the local partnerships and context in which the investments might take place.
The Community Development Marketplace database includes projects and activities underway in urban, rural, and tribal communities applying to become Promise Zones. Promise Zones are high poverty areas in which public and private sector organizations, including local government, are pursuing comprehensive revitalization strategies. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has made available information from Round II Promise Zone applicants, and seeks input on whether the Community Development Marketplace database can be enhanced to be more useful to CDFIs and other impact investors.
A first generation prototype of the CDM database will be demonstrated and comments will be solicited during the webinar for the next phase of development.
