Bengaluru: Chef Sandeep Kumar brings his vast culinary expertise to the Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park. Appointed as Executive Sous Chef of the hotel, Sandeep is a seasoned chef with over 10 years of experience serving in various hospitality, food and beverage positions around the globe.
Born and brought up in Himachal, Chef Sandeep holds a prestigious degree from the Subhash Bose Institute of Hotel Management, Kolkata. His instinctive approach towards food can be credited to his diverse background as his understanding of the intricacies of flavours from different regions of the country quite is phenomenal.
Chef Sandeep started his career in 2003 as a Training Chef de Partie with The Leela Goa where he spent 3 years developing his love for Italian cuisine at the famed Italian Fine Dining Restaurant, Riverside. His interest in European cuisine led him from the beaches of Goa to International waters and he got on board the Carnival Cruise Line, a cruise with a menu crafted by Georges Blanc, a French Chef and Restaurateur, with three Michelin stars and four toques from the guide Gault et Millau.
After gaining experience at the Carnival Cruise Line, Chef Sandeep went on to work at The Orient Express at The Taj Palace, one of Delhi’s most premium fine-dining restaurants, where he sharpened his culinary skills and also gained valuable insight into the different aspects and expectations of today’s discerning Indian clientele.
With these prominent feathers already on his cap, Chef Sandeep finally joined the Starwood bandwagon in 2010 as the Chef in charge of the then pre-opening Westin Gurgaon. His success with the pre-opening of Westin Gurgaon eventually brought him to Westin Shona as the Chef de Cuisine (2014-2015) and finally to Aloft Bengaluru Cessna Business Park.
Chef Sandeep’s untiring energy, distinctive style and the use of a perfect blend of ingredients and national tastes is what sets him apart.
Chef Sandeep’s personal life too revolves around food. It’s what he watches on TV, it’s what he reads about and when he travels he visits local food joints instead of monuments and museums. He is a strong believer of the saying ‘There is no sincerer love than the love of food.’ – Surely food for thought!
