Oct, 09, 2016: The concluding day of 8th Parikrama Dance Festival was made memorable by two eminent personalities of Indian Classical dance art Dr. Ileana Citaristi and Dr. Sucheta Bhide Chapekar. Pune based ‘Kalavardhini Charitable Trust’ which primarily works in the field of performing and allied Indian arts had organising this two-day dance festival.
The viewers were mesmerized by their excellent footsteps, enchanting ‘Abhinaya’ and compelling stage presence. An Italian-born Odissi and Chhau danseuse Dr. Ileana Citaristi presented selected gems from her Odissi repertoire today which included Mangalcharan, Pallavi, Odissi Mahabharata stories. Parikrama concluded with a classic performance titled as ‘Nritya Ganga’ by none other than senior danseuse Dr.Sucheta Bhide-Chapekar. Choreographed by Dr. Sucheta herself, NrityaGanga is a perfect blend of Bharatnatyam and Hindustani Classical Music which has also gained its popularity as a sister style of Bharatnatyam.
