PUNE: An exhibition of posters conveying knowledge on COVID-19 guidelines prepared by the volunteers and representatives of the Children and Labour Community of Tara Mobile Creches, an NGO was recently inaugurated at the Rohan Abhilasha construction site in Wagholi, Pune in presence of CREDAI-Pune Metro members.
Through the poster exhibition, the representatives of Tara Mobile Creches that provide safety, healthcare, and education to construction worker’s children by operating on construction sites have come together to formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that the COVID preventive measures generally taught to the children generally are also followed in their respective Labour Communities at the sites.
Ranjana Guge, Deputy Commissioner, Dept. of Social Welfare, PMC, who was the Chief Guest and members of CREDAI-Pune Metro including Sapna Rathi, Convenor, Labour Welfare Committee, Dr. D. K. Abhyankar, Director General and Samir Parkhi, Labour Welfare Officer, Manjusha Doshi, CSR Consultant, Rohan Builders & Developers, Chandan Desai, T.D.H. Funding Agency and members of Tara Mobile Creches Pune including Nisha Mehta, Director and Pranita Madkaikar, CEO were present on the occasion.
Total 9 posters were unveiled during the inauguration of SOP on COVID-19 guidelines, which will be displayed and exhibited in the labor community at all construction sites.
The Tara Mobile Creches, Pune, is an NGO promoting holistic development in children of laborers working at construction sites through its daycare centers for the past four decades. During the pandemic, Covid preventive measures in terms of health, hygiene, wearing masks, and social distancing among other activities were taught and practiced in the centers. It aims to reach more children at construction sites with the support of CREDAI-Pune Metro in the future.
The Creches also has a Computer-Aided learning Centre- Bus (CALC) that introduces technology to children through games and entertainment. The CALC bus also created awareness on COVID-19 during the pandemic.
