On the occasion of the 75th birthday of their President Sharad Pawar, National Congress Party (NCP) is honouring 75 citizens of the city of Pune.
Observing the 75th year as a ‘Year of Gratitude’, Mr. Ajit Pawar will go to each one’s residence to felicitate the dignitaries in the traditional style of Maharashtra.
Rangoli was applied in front of the house. The traditional ‘Gudhi’ was hoisted outside their house – a bright green or yellow cloth adorned with brocade (‘zari’) tied to the tip of a long bamboo over which ‘gaathi’ (sugar crystals), neem leaves, a twig of mango leaves and a garland of red flowers, with a silver or copper pot placed in the inverted position over it. ‘Dhol’ and ‘Tasha’ drums & trumpets were played during the felicitation.
Rev. Dada J.P. Vaswani, Spiritual Head of Sadhu Vaswani Mission, was felicitated in the inaugural day.
The felicitations termed as ‘Amrit Mahotsav’ will start from July 11, 2015 and continue till December 12, 2015. Rev. Dada will be honoured on the inaugural day of the Mahotsav on 11th July.
The NCP leadership sought the blessings of Rev. Dada that included Ajit Pawar, Vandana Chavan, Mayor of Pune Dattatraya Dhankawade, Appa Renuse, Vishal Tambe, Mrs. Kadam and other leadership.
Rev. Dada said, “Here, on the earth, people judge your greatness by the number of servants you have. There, on the other side they will judge your greatness by the number of people you have served. Truly a life without service is worthless.”
