December, 06, 2016: Dr. Ambedkar himself was an extremely hard working student and was very well researched in
several areas. His writings were in depth and he propagated innovative thoughts based on long years
of research and study. Ambedkar should be known for being an academician and researcher and then
a public leader' thus claimed eminent educationist and writer Dr. N M Joshi while expressing his
views and personal experiences with Dr. Ambedkar. He was specking at the function organized by
Symbiosis Society’s Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial to pay tribute to Dr. Babasaheb
Ambedkar on his 60th Death Anniversary as a chief guest. Dr. Vidya Yeravdekar, Principal Director,
Symbiosis, Dr. A.V. Sangamnerkar, Vice President, Symbiosis were also present on the diose.
Mrs. Sanjivani Mujumdar, Hon. Director, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial, gave the
welcome speech. In her speech she explained various activities carried out by the museum during the
year. She stressed that in the new building of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar library, for the benefit of
students of study centre who appear for various competitive exams, various lectures of eminent
personalities were organized. For Senior citizens computer & mobile application training programs
& lectures were organized. Similarly an activity for the children between age group from 3 to 10
years namely Gubbare is also run by the museum.
Dr. S. B. Mujumdar gave the introduction of Dr. N. M. Joshi. And he felt that before independence,
towering personalities like Dr. Ambedkar, Lokmanya Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Savarkar, Pandit
Nehru were the role models for the public. But after independence this trends seem to be slowed
down. Dr. Ambedkar studied with so many odds and with so many difficulties because he was
convinced that only can education can solve many of the problems of the depressed classes.
Dr. N. M. Joshi narrated his own experience how he was inspired by Sane Guruji who taught him
about Dr. Ambedkar’s struggle throughout the life. He also narrated some of his experience when he
personally met Dr. Ambedkar. He told that difficulties faced by us and difficulties faced by
Dr. Ambedkar and his whole class are very much different. They had to suffer a lot because of their
caste. But Dr. Ambedkar was convinced that only education will solve many of their problems.
Dr. Joshi expressed that Dr. Ambedkar should be looked up to for his quality of sincerity as a student
and the importance he gave for education. He propagated the thought that education shall form basis
for social and societal reforms hence education should be the most important aspect of a person’s
