Pune: ‘Acrobatic Rock ‘n’ Roll’ as fascinating and unique as it sounds, is a high energy sport consisting of a male and female team mates who perform complex aerial and spinning moves to music along with specific footwork that’s required according to laid technique.
Introducing to you’ll Tanushree Rakshit and Swapnil Londhe from the city of Poona will be representing the country at the World Games 2017. This duo has been under rigorous training and is now all set to unleash their talent at this prestigious competition. Speaking at the occasion an elated Tanushree Rakshit said, “Performing complex aerial spins to music is an absolute thrill but at the same time requires immense dedication, patience and perseverance to execute it”. Her partner Swapnil Londhe goes on to say that, “this dream of theirs wouldn’t have come true without the sheer guidance of their trainers Katalin Kis and Miklos Horvath who are based out of Hungary”. This is where they have been training as the coaches and the equipment for the same are not available in India.
Rohit Pawar (CEO, Baramati Agro Ltd) will be sponsoring the Maharashtrian duo in this journey. Speaking at the conference he went to express that ‘ When I heard about these sportsman and also about their background I felt instantly that I should help them. We believe that young individuals should always be encouraged and supported and it gives them immense pleasure and joy in doing so as they will represent India on an international platform competing against athletes from over 30 countries. We have seen that the Marathi cinema has progressed and has won many accolades and recognition on a global level, and now it’s time an off-beat sport also receives such recognition. Our country has great potential in sports we just need to provide platform, provide infrastructure and also give respect and recognition to our youngsters.”
The World Games 2017 is being held in Poland and this is the first time an Indian team will represent the Country in a Rhythm sport category- Acrobatic Rock ‘n’ Roll. The duo will leave for the Pre Wolrd Games training camp which is taking place in Hungary on Friday 14th July and thereafter travel to Poland for the World Games 2017.
