Mumbai: Hindi fortnight was celebrated in the Export-Import Bank of India (Exim Bank), from September 01 to 15, 2017. During this period various programmes aimed at motivating and encouraging staff members for increasing usage of Hindi in their day-to-day work, were organized. Hindi fortnight commenced with the release of message by the Bank’s Managing Director, Shri David Rasquinha. These programmes included a cultural programme and various Hindi competitions for staff members and their kids. On the culmination of the fortnight, a talk, by popular actress, Mrs. Renuka Shahane, was also organized and prizes were given away to the staff members. In her address, Mrs. Shahane said that ‘language is for dialogue and communication; and Hindi is a language of common dialogue amongst Indians and it encourages national integration.’ She also opined, that every language changes with time and with every generation. In this digital era, Hindi has also become digital and is self-evolving. In the past various forms of Hindi, such as Mumbaia Hindi, Hyderabadi Hindi etc. have enriched Hindi and made it more popular. Such experiments are a sign of progress of the language, as rigid and static languages may not survive over longer period of time.
Messages of Hon’ble Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh and Hon’ble Finance Minister, Shri Arun Jaitley were also read out on this occasion. In his key note address, Shri David Rasquinha, Managing Director, Exim Bank congratulated staff members for participating in various Hindi competitions enthusiastically. He also appreciated the efforts of the staff members in increasing usage of Hindi during the fortnight and encouraged staff members to continue the same efforts throughout the year.
