PUNE: The K K Eye Institute at Koregaon Park Pune, recently hosted a surgical symposium programme focused on advanced glaucoma care. Dr. Aparna Paranjpe, Head of the Glaucoma Department at K K Eye Institute, was joined by Dr. M Jariwala and Dr. S Mungale – all three glaucoma specialists with extensive clinical and surgical experience – for a dedicated session of Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery (MIGS).

The procedures performed included Gonioscopy-Assisted Transluminal Trabeculotomy (GATT) and Kahook Dual Blade (KDB) Goniotomy.

GATT is a micro-incisional procedure that restores the eye’s natural drainage pathway through a comprehensive 360-degree approach, reducing intraocular pressure while preserving conjunctival tissue and keeping future treatment options open. KDB Goniotomy uses precision-engineered instrumentation to remove diseased trabecular meshwork tissue, improving aqueous outflow and supporting effective long-term pressure control. Both techniques are designed to reduce surgical trauma and allow for faster recovery compared to conventional glaucoma surgery.

Dr. Aparna Paranjpe shared that this initiative is part of the K K Eye Institute’s ongoing effort to provide the most competent patient care as a Centre of Excellence for Glaucoma diagnostics and treatment modalities. “We bring together specialised surgical capability, technology, and consistent patient follow-up under one roof. Initiatives like this help us to further advance this expertise”, said Dr.Paranjpe.

Known as the Silent Thief of Vision, Glaucoma affects over 12 million people in India. It is a leading cause of irreversible vision loss, as the disease advances without warning signs. Access to highly advanced medical treatment and specialist expertise is therefore critical to manage and treat the disease.

With over 20 years of legacy and more than 2 lakh successful surgeries, K K Eye Institute is one of Pune’s most trusted super-speciality eye hospitals. Founded by Dada Vaswani, under the aegis of the Sadhu Vaswani Mission, the Institute operates on the principle of #NoCompromise on clinical excellence and compassionate care.

Two unforgettable nights of music, dance, and celebrity charm mark the union of Rohit Datar and Saniya Narawade in Mumbai

MUMBAI: Masala King Dhananjay Datar and his wife Vandana hosted a grand two-day wedding celebration for their son, Rohit Datar, with Saniya Narawade, at the iconic Fairmont Hotel, Mumbai, on 23rd and 24th June 2026. The star-studded evenings brought together family, friends, and well-wishers to bless the couple as they embarked on a new chapter in their lives.

The sangeet night on 23rd June kicked off with popular comedians Krushna Abhishek and Rajiv Thakur warming up the crowd with their trademark humor, setting the stage for the evening’s biggest surprise: superstar Shah Rukh Khan. King Khan had the entire gathering in raptures, dancing with effortless charisma, regaling guests with his iconic dialogues, and sharing playful romance tips with the newlyweds-to-be. He took to the floor with Rohit and Saniya, and later with the Datar family, leaving every guest charmed – and wanting more by the time the night wound down. It was a treat watching King Khan warmly hug the Masala King, followed by the entire family dancing with him, on his chartbuster number – Dekho dekho hai shaam badi deewani …om shanti om, before he signed off for the evening!

“As parents, it was the greatest and most joyous moment for Vandana and me, to watch Rohit and Saniya begin this beautiful new journey together, surrounded by the love of our family and friends. We wish the couple a lifetime of togetherness, blessings, and countless reasons to rejoice,“ shared Dhananjay Datar.

The celebrations continued into the reception on 24th June with a spectacular musical evening featuring renowned singer Sonu Nigam, whose performance created an electrifying atmosphere throughout the night. Among the evening’s most heartwarming moments was the groom’s mother, Vandana, taking the mike and crooning the popular song with Sonu Nigam – ‘Tere haath mein, mera haath ho’, her joy and excitement lighting up the celebration.

Saniya’s parents, Seema and Kumar Narawade, warmly welcomed family and friends throughout the festivities. Rohit’s elder brother, Hrishikesh, and his wife Akanksha also joined in wholeheartedly, dancing and sharing in the joy of the occasion alongside the rest of the family.

Both evenings concluded with guests indulging in a delicious spread of gourmet cuisine, rounding off a truly memorable celebration of love, music, and togetherness.

Dhananjay Datar, popularly known as the “Masala King,” is the founder of one of the world’s leading Indian grocery and spice retail chains, Adil Group, with a strong global presence across the Middle East and beyond.

The all-in-one platform that takes guests from QR scan-in to seated, pre-ordered, and served – no app, no hassle, no wait

MUMBAI: InvisQue, a hospitality-technology startup, announced the launch of its end-to-end queue management platform designed to help restaurants eliminate paper waitlists and missed-call chaos while converting idle wait time into additional revenue.

Industry data cited by the company shows nearly two-thirds of guests won’t return after a single poor waiting experience, while restaurants lose significant monthly revenue to walkouts and manual queue failures. InvisQue closes that gap with one QR-based system covering digital queuing, live wait updates, menu pre-ordering, kitchen display, valet management, and post-visit analytics.

“Restaurants have been stitching together paper lists, SMS tools, and generic queue apps that don’t talk to each other. InvisQue replaces all of that with one connected platform that runs entirely from a guest’s phone browser – no app install, no extra hardware.“, said Gautam Sahijwala, founder of InvisQue.

Guests scan a QR code, join the queue in seconds, and get notified when their table is nearly ready. While waiting, they can pre-order from the menu, so food is ready by the time they’re seated. Staff get one live dashboard for queue status, table assignment, valet dispatch, and kitchen orders, plus automated feedback collection and review prompts.

Early deployments on the platform show meaningful gains in guest satisfaction and pre-order revenue, according to the company.
BAKU, AZERBAIJAN: The Islamic Corporation for the Development of the Private Sector (ICD), a member of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group, is pleased to announce the signing of 13 significant financing and strategic cooperation agreements with various counterparts aimed at catalyzing economic development and bolstering private sector growth and initiatives across several member countries in diverse regions around the world. These agreements were signed during the 2026 Annual Meetings of the IsDB Group, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, under the theme “Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity”, which provided a platform for member countries to advance dialogue and cooperation on regional connectivity, resilience and inclusive growth. The signing of these agreements underscores ICD’s unwavering commitment to fostering prosperity through strategic partnerships and promoting access to finance and financial inclusion in its member countries.

In line with its mandate to support private sector growth in its member countries, the ICD and the Azerbaijan Business Development Fund (ABDF) signed a framework agreement to launch a managed Shariah-compliant line of financing for SMEs during the opening ceremony of the IsDB Group 2026 Annual Meeting’s Private Sector Forum in Baku. Under this framework, the parties are to collaborate in deploying up to AZN 200 million within the next two years. The program introduces a local currency (AZN) financing channel by which ICD, acting as ABDF’s agent, will blend ABDF’s AZN funds with ICD’s USD, EUR, and AZN resources to support SMEs and private sector growth in Azerbaijan. Through this initiative, the ICD, acting on its own behalf and on behalf of ABDF, will provide either single or multi-currency line of financing facilities to selected partner financial institutions in Azerbaijan for on-ward financing of eligible companies in the country. This arrangement is expected to help mitigate foreign exchange risk that has long hindered the growth of Azerbaijani SMEs, especially those operating outside major cities in the country.

In a further attempt to explore bankable financing opportunities in Azerbaijan and facilitate the realization of its mandate of supporting private sector development in its member countries, the ICD also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR), establishing strategic cooperation between the two institutions to collaborate in financing of infrastructure and energy projects in Azerbaijan and other member countries within existing public private partnership (PPP) frameworks. Under the Memorandum of Understanding, the parties will identify and evaluate financing opportunities for project companies established by SOCAR and its joint venture partners. Within this framework, ICD will provide financing solutions tailored to the specific requirements of the projects.

Further, the ICD signed a Mandate Letter with Azerconnect for a USD 20 million financing facility for capex financing and an Expression of Intent Letter for a USD 15 million Line of Financing Facility with Turan Bank for onward financing of SMEs and eligible companies in Azerbaijan.

In an effort to strengthen and deepen its operations in Nigeria, the ICD also signed a Mandate Letter with the Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) for a USD 50 million syndicated line of financing facility to be arranged by ICD to be used by NEXIM for financing eligible private sector entities in Nigeria.

In line with its mandate of promoting economic development in its member countries, the ICD also signed an Expression of Intent Letter for a proposed EUR 50 million Line of Financing Facility with Afriland Bank (Cameroon), and a Final Term Sheet for Euro 20 Million line of finance facility with AFG Bank (Cameroon), each for onward financing of SMEs and other eligible private sector companies in Cameroon. Under these facilities, the ICD will be leading and supporting the arrangement and mobilization of resources and private capital to support the operations of these Cameroonian banks and thus contribute to fostering economic growth and prosperity in the country.

Consistent with its objective of having a diversified portfolio across its member countries, the ICD also signed a Murabaha Facility Agreement with Al Salam Bank of Bahrain (ASB) for a USD 50 million Line of Finance Facility for onward financing of eligible companies in Bahrain whose operations contribute or have the potential of contributing significantly to the growth and development of SMEs and the private sector in general in Bahrain.

ICD has also signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with DAMU Entrepreneurship Development Fund of Kazakhstan to establish a framework for cooperation aimed at identifying and developing financing and guarantee opportunities for Lines of financing in Kazakhstan, with a focus on supporting SMEs and private‑sector entities.

To further its support to the growth of the private sector in Kazakhstan, the ICD also signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding with KAZAGROFINANCE JSC of Kazakhstan (KAF) to establish a common ground for partnership between the parties and the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan to extend thematic agri-sector-linked line of finance facilities to KAF under the Ministry’s subsidy program to farmers in Kazakhstan.

Additionally, Leveraging on ICD’s recent and first successful credit enhancement transaction with the African Solidarity Fund (FSA) in Mauritania in partnership with Banque Mauritanienne de l’Investissement (BMI), the ICD signed a strategic Expression of Intent Letter with FSA as a demonstration of their intent to upscale their partnership in the use of FSA’s guarantees as credit enhancement for ICD’s line of financing operations in selected common member countries of the Parties.

Finally, the ICD also signed a Strategic MOU with the Texel Group of the UK to establish a platform of cooperation on credit portfolio enhancement through insurance. Through this MOU, the parties are aiming to combine ICD’s origination and development financing capabilities with Texel Group’s structuring and placement expertise in the use of Non-Payment Insurance to enhance risk management, optimize capital allocation, and mobilize additional financing into priority sectors, while enabling ICD to up-scale its financing activities and efficiently manage portfolio concentration and credit exposure in its member countries.

All these signed agreements represent a major step forward in ICD’s efforts to promote sustainable economic growth and financial inclusion across its member countries. By strengthening partnerships with key financial institutions and development partners, ICD continues to play a vital role in supporting private sector growth and development in its member countries.

BAKU: The Islamic Corporation for the Insurance of Investment and Export Credit (ICIEC), a Shariah-based multilateral credit and political risk insurer and member of the Islamic Development Bank Group, concluded its participation in the IsDB Group Annual Meetings 2026 in Baku with the signing of seven agreements, Memoranda of Understanding, and insurance policies valued at more than USD 1 billion.

Held from 16 to 19 June under the theme “Regional Integration for Sustainable Prosperity,” the Annual Meetings provided a strategic platform for ICIEC to advance partnerships, support bankable projects, and reinforce its role in enabling trade and investment across its 51 Member States.

During the 14th IsDB Group Private Sector Forum (PSF), Dr. Khalid Khalafalla, Chief Executive Officer of ICIEC, participated as a speaker in the CEOs Session titled “Making Regional Integration Investable.” The session focused on how the IsDB Group can deliver integrated solutions by combining trade facilitation, investment structuring, and de-risking instruments to transform regional integration ambitions into scalable and bankable opportunities.

Following the CEOs Session, ICIEC hosted its High-Level Panel Discussion titled “De-Risking Trade & Investment for Regional Prosperity.” The session brought together around 300 participants, including senior Azerbaijani officials, business leaders, investors, development finance institutions, export credit agencies, insurers, and trade promotion organisations. The discussion highlighted Azerbaijan’s role as a strategic regional hub connecting Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Türkiye, Europe, and the wider OIC region. It also examined how Shariah-compliant risk management instruments can unlock cross-border capital, strengthen investor confidence, and support sustainable development across Member Countries.

The agreements signed during the PSF covered key areas including infrastructure, trade finance, export development, banking cooperation, and investment facilitation. They included support for strategic transactions in Nigeria, Türkiye, Uganda, and other Member Countries, alongside partnerships with financial institutions aimed at expanding access to Shariah-compliant risk mitigation and trade finance solutions.

Commenting on ICIEC’s participation, Dr. Khalid Khalafalla said: “ICIEC’s achievements in Baku demonstrate the vital role of risk mitigation in turning regional integration ambitions into bankable opportunities. The agreements concluded during the Annual Meetings will support infrastructure delivery, trade flows, investment mobilisation, and private sector growth across our Member States. ICIEC remains committed to providing the confidence and protection needed to move strategic projects from concept to implementation.”

Throughout the Annual Meetings, ICIEC held more than 80 B2B and B2G meetings with stakeholders from over 60 countries, strengthening engagement with governments, financial institutions, investors, exporters, and private sector leaders.

The ICIEC Awards recognised outstanding institutions and initiatives for their contributions to trade, investment, and sustainable development. This year, ICIEC honoured First Abu Dhabi Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, and Agrobank for landmark infrastructure and trade finance transactions that reflect the impact of effective partnerships and risk mitigation.

On the occasion of the Annual Meetings, ICIEC also issued a Special Issue themed “Corridors of Opportunities: From Azerbaijan to Central Asia, Enabling Bankable Delivery Through Risk Mitigation.” The publication highlighted Azerbaijan’s growing role as a gateway linking Central Asia, the South Caucasus, Türkiye, Europe, and the wider Islamic world. It featured perspectives on trade corridors, Islamic finance, export credit insurance, investment protection, and the role of risk mitigation in advancing sustainable growth.

ICIEC’s outcomes in Baku reaffirm its commitment to working with Member States, financial institutions, investors, and development partners to de-risk strategic projects, expand cross-border trade, and promote sustainable prosperity across the OIC region and beyond.

BAKU, AZERBAIJAN: The Islamic Development Bank Institute (IsDBI) and the Tanzania-based Centre of Islamic Finance, Compliance and Advice (CIFCA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in advancing Islamic finance, capacity development, professional certification, research, and knowledge dissemination.

The MoU was signed on the sidelines of the 20206 IsDB Group Annual Meetings, held from 16-19 June in Baku, Azerbaijan. The partnership seeks to leverage the complementary strengths of both organizations to promote excellence in Islamic finance education and professional development in Tanzania, while contributing to the broader objectives of sustainable and inclusive economic development beyond IsDB Member Countries.

As Tanzania is not an IsDB Member Country, the MoU allows the IsDBI and CIFCA to explore cooperation on a range of human capital programs that serve the Muslim community and contribute to the progress of the Tanzanian economy at large.

CIFCA plays an important role in accelerating financial inclusion and driving the development of Shariah-compliant financial systems across Tanzania. Endorsed by the Government of Tanzania as an Islamic finance advisory body, CIFCA collaborates with key entities like the Bank of Tanzania and the Capital Markets and Securities Authority. It facilitated the launch of landmark projects, including the checking and certification of major public Sukuk listings on the Dar es Salaam Stock Exchange. Furthermore, CIFCA also offers professional certifications and training programs to build local academic and professional capacity.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sami Al-Suwailem, Acting Director General of IsDB Institute, emphasized the importance of investing in talent and knowledge as key enablers of a vibrant Islamic finance ecosystem. He said, “Human capital remains one of the most critical pillars for the sustainable growth of Islamic finance. Through this partnership, we look forward to working closely with CIFCA to promote knowledge, professional excellence, and innovation that can enhance the developmental impact of Islamic finance.”

Aref Mbarak Nahdi, Chairman of CIFCA, highlighted the significance of the collaboration in fostering globally recognized professional standards and competencies within the industry. “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to nurturing future leaders and practitioners who can contribute meaningfully to the continued advancement of Islamic finance and its role in addressing contemporary economic and social challenges,” he noted.

The collaboration aligns with the strategic priorities of both institutions to support the development of robust, ethical, and inclusive financial systems grounded in the principles and values of Islamic finance.

As Islamic finance continues to expand across diverse markets, the partnership is expected to contribute to the development of skilled professionals, enhanced institutional capacity, and greater knowledge exchange that will ultimately strengthen the industry’s ability to serve society and promote sustainable prosperity.
