Finolex has procured bags from eighty mahaliya bachat gats from across Maharashtra and Gujarat, employing over 5000 women. The distribution is an initiative to help the pilgrims carry their belongings after the Holy Snaan at the Sangam. More than 2.5 lakh bags have already been distributed on the occasion of Shahi Snan, between January 15 to February 4. The remaining will be distributed on the upcoming Shahi Snan days of the Kumbh Mela.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr Prakash Chhabria, Executive Chairman, Finolex Industries Ltd. said “Kumbh Mela is the largest spiritual gathering in the world and we feel privileged to play our humble part in providing convenience to the pilgrims. “ FIL has been organising such activities on various scales across the country. Through this initiative, it aims to encourage the cause of women self-help groups through skill development programs organised by its CSR partner, Mukul Madhav Foundation. The procurement of bags for the Kumbh Mela has provided a livelihood and inspiration to the women from various districts of Maharashtra and Gujarat to become economically self-reliant.
Mukul Madhav Foundation, through similar activities, upholds the cause of various women self-help groups in Maharashtra and Gujarat by offering them training, thus encouraging them to have a sustainable livelihood. Since its inception, MMF has been actively involved in the areas of Healthcare, Education, Social Welfare and Water schemes in and around villages in various parts of the country, but primarily in Maharashtra & Gujarat.
