Pune, March 29, 2019: On 25th March 2019, Monday- a program of 5th free distribution of Assistive Devices (Plextalk) to Visually Impaired students was organized by Technical Training Institute of The Poona Blind Men’s Association. A total number of students who received the devices was 200.
The Assistive Device scheme is the initiative of Govt. of India, under the ADIP scheme(Assistive devices for Impaired Persons) which is a Central Government scheme organized by Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in coordination with NIEPVD (National Institute For The Empowerment With Visual Disabilities, Dehradun).
In Pune, Technical Training Institute is the nodal agency where the students from all over Maharashtra come to fill the forms to avail the benefit of these devices. It all started with a small advertisement in the newspaper in 2014 and after continuous follow up and hard work by the team almost 900 students all over Maharashtra, have already received assistive devices worth Rs 79 lakhs – like a smart cane, CD players & recording devices, totally free of cost at Technical Training Institute. The objective of TTI of The PBMA is not only providing quality computer & vocational courses but also providing skill-based employability related training & helping them live a life of dignity.
