Natyasampada Pratishthan and HARMAN present this Grand Classical Music Festival
Pune, January 22, 2019: Natyasampada Pratishthan founded by the great Actor from Marathi theatre, Prabhakar Panshikar, commenced a melodious endeavor, ‘Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav’, a Classical Music festival in 2013. This event acknowledges and celebrates the exceptional contribution of Kishori Amonkar in the field of Indian classical music, the great Vocalist, known by the respected title ‘Gaanasaraswati’.
This year’s Gaanasaraswati Mahotsav will take place between February 1 to February 3 at Mahalaxmi Lawns (near Rajaram Bridge) in Pune. This grand three-day festival of Indian Classical Music will feature a balanced blend of veteran artists and talented young artists. HARMAN, the premier audio and infotainment group, has been associated with this event as the title sponsor since the event’s inception. Fleetguard too has been the event’s Foundation Partner since the beginning. This year’s event is also co-sponsored by Tata Capital and Soujanya Color, and others.
The festival will commence on Friday, the 1st February at 5.00 PM with a Carnatic vocal recital by S. Aishwarya and S. Saundarya, Great Granddaughters of legendary Vocalist Bharatratna M S Subbulakshmi. They will be followed by Violinist Dr. Sangeeta Shankar and her daughter Violinist Nandini Shankar. This session will end with a vocal recital by Devki Pandit.
The second day of the festival, Saturday, the 2nd February, will begin at 5.00 PM with a vocal performance by Ankita Joshi and Rutuja Lad. They will be followed by the flute performance by Debopriya and Suchismita Chatterjee. The session will be concluded with the vocal recital by veteran Vocalist Ajay Pohankar. He will be accompanied by Abhijit Pohankar on Keyboard.
The morning session of the third day of the festival will begin at 9.00 AM on Sunday, the 3rd of February. The session will start with the Sarod performance by Abhishek Borkar. He will be followed by Vocalist Srinivas Joshi. The session will be concluded with a special concert ‘Vaikunthanayaka’, in which Vocalists Pt. Raghunandan Panshikar, Pt.Anand Bhate, and Pt. Sanjeev Abhyankar will perform together.
The evening and last session of the event will begin at 5:00 PM on Sunday, the 3rd February, which will start with a Bharatnatyam performance by Kshitija Bhave. She will be followed by famous Vocalist Jayteerth Mevundi. The festival will conclude with the surbahar and sitar recital of Budhaditya Mukherjee.
The event will also include special felicitations. Pt. Sharad Sathe, veteran Vocalist of Gwalior Gharana will be felicitated with the prestigious ‘Gaanatapaswini Mogubai Kurdikar Puraskar’. Raya Korgaonkar (Harmonium) and Dayanidhesh Kossambe (Tabla) from Goa will be honored with the ‘Gaanasaraswati Kishori Amonkar Sangatkar Puraskar’ for their contribution in the field of accompaniment. Abhishek Borkar will be felicitated with the ‘Gaanasaraswati Kishori Amonkar Yuva Puraskar’ instituted this year and is supported by Belvalkar Housing.
Donation passes for this event will be available at www.bookmyshow.com and www.kyazoonga.com. Donation passes will also be available starting at 10.00 AM from January 22, at Navdikar Musicals (Kothrud), Shirish Traders (opposite Kamla Nehru Park), Balgandharva Rangmandir, Tilak Smarak Mandir, and City Pride Theatre (Kothrud). Season Ticket for the chair is for Rs.600 and for Bharatiya Baithak it is Rs. 200 including GST. Also, Daily Ticket for Chair is for Rs.200. Please note that Bharatiya Baithak tickets are limited.
