2nd World Trade Expo is a unique programme which provides a platform for Consulates, Embassies, State Governments and other stakeholders to showcase opportunities in trade and investment to MSMEs, startups, women entrepreneurs and trade associations. It is organized by MVIRDC World Trade Centre, Mumbai (WTC Mumbai) and the All India Association of Industries (AIAI), supported by MAITRI (Maharashtra Industry, Trade & Investment Facilitation Cell), Government of Maharashtra. The Expo is scheduled from October 29 – 30, 2018 at World Trade Centre Mumbai, Cuffe Parade, Mumbai.
Gen. (Dr.) V. K. Singh PVSM, AVSM, YSM (Retd.), Minister of State for External Affairs, Ministry of External Affairs will inaugurate the World Trade Expo on October 29, 2018. Besides other ministers and government officials, diplomats and eminent experts on International Trade will address the various sessions of the Conference.
“World Trade Expo is an initiative in the commercial capital of India – Mumbai to connect India’s Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Startup companies with Global Markets. It aims to provide an effective platform to interact and discuss business opportunities with Consulates, Embassies, Bilateral Chambers, International Business Representatives and Officials from the State Governments and Trade Promotions and Government Organizations”, said Mr. Vijay Kalantri, President, All India Association of Industries and Vice Chairman, MVIRDC World Trade Centre Mumbai.
Mr. Kalantri further added, “The Expo will promote India’s ambitious policies such as Startup India, Digital India, Make in India, Skill Development apart from International Trade & Investment. The B2B meetings proposed will facilitate greater co-operation through useful business leads and potential business partnership between India, participating countries and startups”.
The focus sectors of the World Trade Expo are Export Competitiveness, Trade & Investments, Health & Personal Care, Education, Agro & Food Processing, Technology, Tourism and Culture and other areas of mutual interest.
“World Trade Expo 2018 will create a platform for interacting, engaging and enhancing International Trade and Investment. Prominent State Governments will participate in Government to Business (G2B) meetings. Representatives of trade from various trade sectors of India and international companies established in the state of Maharashtra will participate in the conference discussing topical issues of foreign trade. Ambassadors and Consul Generals of the participating countries have expressed optimism on the evolving economic partnerships with India”, said Mrs. Rupa Naik, Senior Director, MVIRDC World Trade Centre Mumbai.
World Trade Expo 2017 was the pioneering initiative by WTC Mumbai and AIAI which was held in November 2017 at World Trade Centre Mumbai. It received a tremendous response with active participation from trade representatives and state governments and attracted a footfall of over 3,000 visitors and hosted 1,000 B2B meetings over 2 days.
The Second Edition is expected to attract more than 5000 business visitors engaging in the Conference, B2B and B2G sessions organized during these two days.
