Gen Next 8.0 film festival, a German film festival by Goethe-Institut / MMB Pune (PASCH) for PASCH Students was recently conducted in National Film Archives of India (NFAI) Pune. The film festival, in its 8th edition, was held from 31st August to 2nd September and screened three movies in German language with German subtitles. The motive behind the Film festival is to help students learn German language via films. Pune officially kicked off the Gen Next 8.0 and will be spread across different cities of India and neighbouring countries in the upcoming days.
The film festival was inaugurated on the 31st August at the hands of Director of NFAI, Prakash Magdum. On 31st August, “Hanni und Nanni 2”, a movie based on Enid Blyton’s popular children’s book series was screened. On the 1st September, “Eine Zauberhafte Nanny – Knall auf Fall in ein neues Abenteuer“(“Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang”) and on the 2nd September, “Die Eiskönigin – Völlig unverfroren” (“Frozen”) were screened. There were two screenings of the movie in a day; the first at 11 am and the second at 3pm. A quiz was conducted at the end of each screening.
PASCH Project is a part of Goethe-Institut / MMB Pune and partners schools and junior colleges teaching German language all across the globe. In India, there are a total of 47 schools and junior colleges and of these 9 are in Pune which include Abhinava English Medium School, Fergusson Junior College, Loyola High School and Junior College, Muktangan School and Junior College, Modern High School and Junior College, Symbiosis School and Junior College, S.P. Junior College, St. Vincents School and Junior College and The Orchid School. The event was coordinated by Shivali Gore, Project Manager, PASCH and Naina Pawar, Project Assistant, PASCH. The Gen Next 8.0 was one of the many activities conducted by PASCH to facilitate German language teaching and learning across Pune.
