Pune, October 4, 2018: Padmanabh Acharya, Governor of Nagaland visited Ishwarpuram Hostel in Phulgaon, Pune to meet the 20 Naga students studying here. The governor also provided a donation of Rs 4 Lac to Ishwarpuram. The interest received from this amount will be utilized for giving prizes to students who excel in arts, sports and studies.
Under the Governor’s initiative, 20 girls and boys from Nagaland have come to Maharashtra to receive education. These students stay in Ishwarpuram Hostel in Phulgaon, Haveli. The purpose of this initiative is to ensure that children from Northeast receive proper exposure and education at first and later they work towards the upliftment of Northeast. Neelkanth Joshi, Chairperson, Ishwarpuram, Vineet Kuber, director, Mukund Godbole, Prashant Joshi, Deepak Paigude, MLA, Snehal Damle graced the event with their presence.
‘‘Indians know about tourist places in the world, but many are unaware of the rich natural treasure in the northeast India. But we should not visit northeast just as tourists. To establish friendly relations with these citizens and to provide them opportunities for upliftment, educationalists, entrepreneurs and businessmen should contribute in the development of northeast,’’ Expressed Acharya.
Abhay Bhutda, Executive Director, Tab Capital provided sports uniform and sports kit to the students, while Rotary Club and Bharat Vikas Parishad provided school books and stationary. People from nearby areas like Wagholi & Yerwada are very friendly with the students and help them like their local guardians.
