– Dr. Avinash Supe addressed the audience on the topic ‘Health for All’
Pune, May 21, 2018: “Government is highly concerned about the development of Metro and Mono Rail, such concern of government should also be noticed in Health and Education sector” said Dr. Avinash Supe, Dean of KEM Hospital, Mumbai at a Panel Discussion on the topic ‘Health for All’. The program was jointly organized by Manovikas Prakashan, Jan Arogya Abhiyan and Poona Citizen- Doctor Forum.
A new book written by Dr.Anant Phadke,Health activist, published by Manovikas Prakashan- ‘Sarvansathi Arogya? Hoy, Shakya Aahe!’ (Health for all? Yes, it is possible!) was unveiled at the hands of Dr. Supe and Dr. Ravindra Tongaonkar, Renowned Surgeon, famous for his work in rural area ‘Dondaicha’. The program was moderated by Dr. Shriram Geet and Ulhas Sawant.
We should study the Tamil Nadu health model where they provide medicines at a low cost like a 3 Rs. medicine is provided for 8 Paise emphasized Supe. He strongly believes that ‘Voice against doctor cannot be tolerated’ and public should take this into notice.
Cost of entry in the private medical colleges is very high compared to the entry in other stream, to which government does not show any concern. As the colleges are private and there is no control from government, added Dr. Supe.
There are many new vaccinations introduced in the market. Only after looking at their importance a doctor should recommend or promote those vaccination rather than just hammering it to the patient, said Dr. Tongaonkar.
Generic medicines intend to spoil the relation between doctor and patient. There are no generic medicines available in the retail market which the patients do not understand. I personally recommend for generic medicine. My suggestion is that the government should ban all the brands and start to issue medicine under the name of generic said, Dr. Phadke.
