New Delhi, May 24, 2018: At a glittering event attended by a distinguished gathering of social experts, academia and business partners, the CEO of Niti Ayog, Shri Amitabh Kant released the Ferrero’s global 8th CSR report on Sharing Values to Create Value. The event was hosted at the Italian embassy and was graced by His Excellency Mr. Lorenzo Angeloni, Ambassador of Italy and Mr. Stephano Pelle, MD Ferrero India.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Amitabh Kant said, “The association of the Ferrero family with India has been for more than a decade now and their contribution to our country is truly valued. The initiatives undertaken by them have turned Baramati into a flourishing industrial hub. Ferrero as a brand truly signifies quality and uniqueness. I am elated to be associated with a global organization and would like to visit their plant at Baramati. Ferrero is a company that goes beyond balance sheets to measure success.”
Sharing his views, The Ambassador of Italy, His Excellency Mr. Lozreno Angeloni said, “It is our privilege to host Ferrero’s s global CSR report for the second consecutive year. The company has all made us proud with their CSR initiatives towards supporting the communities in and around their Baramati plant. Ferrero India is a true testimony of commitment towards Corporate Social Responsibility.”
On the occasion, Mr. Stefano Pelle, Managing Director of Ferrero India shared his views on the CSR initiatives that reiterate the company’s continued commitment to the values of the “Make in India” initiative. Mr. Pelle said, “Through the Michele Ferrero Entrepreneurial Project at the Baramati plant in India, we have created jobs in the less developed areas and provided training and skills thereby creating real sustainable development within the communities. We support social initiatives which promote good health care and education for children living in the areas where the plant is set up.”
“Ferrero’s journey in India has just begun,” Mr Pelle said, adding, “In the last 11 years, we have rolled out some noteworthy initiatives as a mark of our commitment and gratitude to this wonderful country which has welcomed us so warmly. We are positive and committed to doing much more in the years to come.”
Ferrero has already invested seven times the initial commitment in its 11 years in India and also provided employment to substantial number of people; much more than what it was mandated while it was setting up its facility in Baramati. The Ferrero Group’s has the third largest workforce in India, after Italy and Germany and at the India plant nearly 50% of the collaborators are women.
The Ferrero 8th CSR report highlights the goals set by Ferrero for 2020, the latest one pledging to increase more women in managerial positions and to continue investing in sustainable global initiatives. Focus at the Ferrero Foundation and the Michele Ferrero Entrepreneurial Projects at Cameroon, India and South Africa is one of the key achievements. The company has secured FSSC 22000 food safety certification for all the 22 Group production sites worldwide.
The Global CSR Report showcases Ferrero’s commitment to the people, environment and the business eco-system of India, along with the 22 other countries where it has manufacturing operations.
The launch of the CSR report by Hon’ble C.E.O Niti Ayog, Shri. Amitabh Kant was followed by a Kathak dance recital by artistes and dinner.
