Conducts PAN India green initiatives from 5th -11th June
Gurugram, June 14, 2017: Taking its promise of working towards a greener tomorrow, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI) commemorated a weeklong celebration around 45th World Environment Day. Moving into the 17th year of celebration, Honda conducted activities across its plants in Manesar (Haryana), Tapukara (Rajasthan) Narsapura (Karnataka) and Vithalapur (Gujarat) along with its All-India dealership network.
Elaborating on Honda’s promise for a greener future, Mr. Minoru Kato, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd. said, “Preserving the environment is top of the mind for us at Honda being committed to our vision ‘Blue skies for our children’. As a responsible corporate, Honda is actively contributing to build a greener future. The same reflects in our processes, technology and plant architecture. Globally, Honda is striving to become No. 1 in the areas of the environment and safety by 2030 and lead the effort to realize a carbon-free and collision-free society.”
In line with this year’s UNEP theme, ‘Connecting People to Nature’, Honda took a holistic approach towards environment preservation through its concept of Green Factory, Green Dealer and Green Supplier, aiming for a Cleaner, Greener and Brighter outlook. Various employee engagement programs and awareness trainings were organised to create a consciousness for the environment.
This year, special initiatives were undertaken at the dealerships and society at large. Honda engaged with its dealership network for plantation of saplings at their premises, nearby schools and primary localities. As part of its commitment towards environment, free of cost PUC Check-ups were conducted for all the customers visiting the workshop. Free plant saplings were given away to customers visiting the dealerships. At various schools, engagement with students was being conducted through the format of quiz, art competitions and rallies along with plantation drives.
Customer engagement and awareness campaigns were also initiated at all touch points. Awareness messages were being spread through badges on customer invoices, vehicles and employee uniforms across the network of over 5,000 touch points across India.
This year’s World Environment Day theme: “Connecting People to Nature”, to promote interaction with nature, appreciating its beauty and importance and to take forward the call to protect Mother Earth.
