Pune: Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture has set up a solar power plant at its Bhosari office. This is in tune with the Government of India’s agenda of enhancing the use of Solar Power.
The Solar Plant was inaugurated by Dr. Anant Sardeshmukh, Director, MCCIA and Mr. Deepak Karandikar, Hon. Secretary, MCCIA.
Mr. Satish Magar, President, MCCIA, said, “This solar plant has been installed as a Pilot Project with an objective to demonstrate the benefits of the solar power plant to the industrial units especially the SMEs. The 4.16 kWp solar power system is installed at our Bhosari office. This system is generating about 20-22 units of electricity per day.”
On the occasion Dr. Anant Sardeshmukh, said, “Today there is a definite need to look towards renewable energy. Solar power has tremendous potential and it is required to be harnessed effectively. The Government is pushing for it and this initiative needs to be supported by all. As a gesture to support this initiative of the Government, we have installed this demonstration plant. We are confident that our members would follow us.”
Annually the solar power plant will generate 6,500 units of electricity during daytime. This will help in reducing about 5 tonnes of carbon emissions each year. The cost of the solar power plant will be paid back in about 4 years and after that MCCIA will use free power (only maintenance cost) for more than 20 years.
The inauguration ceremony was followed by a program on the benefits of solar power and SME focused collateral free financing scheme. MCCIA has also invited officials from MEDA and MSEDCL to provide information on the benefits of installation of solar power plants and the ‘Net metering’ policy. There was a live demonstration on power generation of the solar power plant.
