With a view to reaching out to all those who suffer from joint trouble and disseminating information on its advanced joint replacement services, the Jehangir Hospital recently hosted an interesting and educative evening called “Happy Joints” at the Crowne Plaza Hotel , on Wednesday, August 31.
Jehangir Hospital has always been a front runner in providing high quality healthcare services to the citizens of Pune. It is among the few hospitals in the city with the capability of doing Computer Assisted, High Precision Joint Replacement Surgeries.
The invitees were senior citizens of the city and erstwhile patients of the hospital who have undergone Joint Replacement Surgeries at Jehangir Hospital. Many of them were happy to share their experiences.
Speaking on the occasion, 58-year-old Rahul Bhonsale (named changed) reminisced over the fact that he had undergone bilateral knee replacement surgery at Jehangir Hospital five years ago. ” My experience was very smooth and I was mobile on the second day of surgery itself. Significantly, I was discharged from the hospital within five days. I was very happy with the team of nurses, physiotherapists, dieticians and doctors, who cared for me, contributing to my early recovery,” he said, adding that he was satisfied with the regain of function after surgery.
The patient interaction segment was followed by a Question and Answer session with a panel of reputed joint replacement surgeons.
After this point, the event took on a spirit of fun and laughter. Operated patients walked the ramp, to some lively retro music and the audience was regaled by the performance and applauded whole-heartedly. Senior citizens came on to the stage and danced to some music and enjoyed themselves.
Sir Cowasji Jehangir, chairman of the hospital, and Mrs Jasmine Jehangir, who were both present at the event, said that the hospital aimed to engage the community that it serves, and organize more such events where the patients and healthcare providers join hands to spread awareness about crucial medical issues and the services available with the hospital.
Dr Sujata Malik, Director ( Medical Strategy and Development) of the hospital, said -” We are grateful to the patients who came forward in large numbers to spread awareness about the surgery and dispel myths and doubts surrounding the procedure and wish to sincerely thank them for their support.”
