New Delhi: Senior Indian BJP Leader & President Delhi Study Group Vijay Jolly recently visited Brunei, Darussalam. This was to Promote People to People Friendship & Understanding between India & Brunei.
“Jolly’s Successful Mission to Brunei” started with warm welcome on arrival by Brunei -India Friendship Association led by President Pehin Dato Hj Mahdini Dato Hj Basir along with Vice President -II Dr. Sundra Pandi, Gen. Sec. Hj Awg Zaini Bin Hj Awg Damit & President Lions Club Brunei Ln. R. Malarazhagan (Malan). Later BIFA hosted a dinner reception to Honor BJP leader Mr. Jolly at Rajah’s Restaurant in Central Brunei. It was attended by all leaders including seasoned diplomat Dato Paduka Hj Mohd. Adnan Ex. Brunei High Commissioner in India.
Ancient Indian roots & connections in Brunei were found by visiting Indian leader during his short trip to Brunei. He met number of second & third generation NRI’s in Brunei who have extended families living in India.
Indian High Commissioner in Brunei Mrs. Nagma Mallick hosted a dinner reception at India House located in Bandar Seri Begawan in Brunei Darulssalam. It was attended by prominent leaders of Brunei – India Chamber of Commerce led by President Nazeer Ahmed, Vice President J.T. Punjabi and N Murugenan Vice President Indian Association Brunei. At the late night dinner, free exchange of views on latest political events & efforts to promote people to people friendship between the two nations were discussed at length. Charming son of Indian High Commissioner, Aftab Mallik, studying in Montreal, Canada & visiting Brunei, added lively to the discussions at the gala dinner.
Mr. Jolly was warmly received by Dato Paduka Lim Jock Hoi, Permanent Secretary at the office of Brunei Ministry of Foreign Affairs & Trade. Efforts to Promote Trade and Friendship between India & Brunei were discussed at length.
Meeting with Dy. Permanent Secretary Brunei Ministry of Youth & Sports Haji Noor Jusmin Bin Haji Abd Samad was fruitful & satisfying. Soon prominent youth leaders of Brunei including star sportsman, artists, writers, commentators & businessman shall visit India under Brunei-India exchange program.
Prominent Non Resident Indian & Pravasi Bharatiya Awardee-2010, Mohinder Singh organized lunch reception at his sprawling mansion in Bandar Seri where his enterprising son Shran J. Singh along with prominent Indian businessman J.T. Punjabi were in attendance.
The Brunei High Commissioner in India Dato Paduka Sidek Ali in Brunei, actively coordinated & assisted for the success of Indian leader’s “Brunei Familarization” trip. The High Commissioner along with his family members hosted dinner reception for Mr. Jolly at the famous Royal Brunei Polo & Riding Club Restaurant in Brunei.
The Asstt. Vice Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam Dr. Joyce Teo Siew Yean warmly received Mr. Jolly during his visit to the famous academic institution in Brunei. Where earlier this year the Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri. Hamid Ansari delivered a keynote address to strengthen bilateral relations between the two nations.
A book titled “Make It Big” on Nepal billionaire Binod Chaudhary was presented by Mr. Jolly to Asst. Vice Chancellor Dr. Joyce. She extended a invitation to Mr. Chaudhary thru Mr. Jolly, to address the large management faculty students at Brunei Universiti later this year. Which was promptly accepted by the Nepal business leader thru mobile connectivity.
Earlier Mr. Jolly visited the office of Brunei Economic Development Board where he had extensive discussion with Ms. Hasnah Ibrahim, Acting CEO, BEDM, in the presence of Harris Ibrahim, Head of Promotions for business development.
The message of Good Governance of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi along with success of Digital India and Make in India campaigns was stressed by Indian BJP leader Mr. Jolly during his recent Brunei trip.
