Dr. Poorva Shah is going to perform a Katthak solo on Saturday, 27th January at 9 p.m. in 21st Kalashree Mahotsav 2018 which is to be held from 26th Jan to 28th January at Sangvi, opp Gajanan Maharaj Mandir. Dr. Poorva is a disciple of Katthak and Odissi exponent Yogini Gandhi. The show will feature the traditional repertoire from the Lucknow style of Katthak. She will begin with an invocatory piece, based on Lord Shiva followed by a piece encompassing the technical aspect of Katthak in Taal Teentaal, showcasing the superfluous body movements, intricate footwork, spins and the complex rhythmic patterns that Katthak is known for. She will also present a Thumri, as a part of the emotive or Abhinaya aspect of Katthak. A traditional thumri, by Bindadin Maharaj ji, based on the eternal love of Radha and Krishna showcasing the beauty of monsoon and rains in Vrindavan. Dr. Poorva will be Accompanied by Amit Mishra on tabla, Manoj Desai on vocals and Harmonium, Sunil Avchat on the flute, Aniruddha Joshi on the sitar and Mohanish Jaju on the padhant or recitation.
