Pune: Upholding its 400-year-old tradition of integrity, transparency and honesty, Krishna Rajaram Ashtekar (KRA) Jewellers inaugurated its showroom near Gadital, Hadapsar at the hands of Satish Magar, President, Credai on October 2, 2019.
With the latest launch, this is the 8th outlet opened by the jewelers across the state. This information was given by Atul Ashtekar, Director, KRA in a press conference held today. Dignitaries including Krishna Rajaram Ashtekar himself, Mrs. Radhika Krishna Ashtekar, Actress and brand ambassador Shruti Marathe, Amol Ashtekar and Vipul Ashtekar were present at the inauguration function.
Since Hadapsar being a prime commercial area, with large number of jewelry buyers, the jewelers decided to establish a 2000 sq. ft outlet, which stocks gold, silver and diamonds jewelry. The showroom will also have a special section for ‘Temple Jewelry’, while one section will be for ‘9 to 5’ daily wear diamond jewelry at affordable rates.
Speaking at the conference, Atul Ashtekar said, “We have been into jewelry business since past 400 years. Hailing from Ashti village(Dhotar Joda) in Jalna district in Marathwada, our ancestors conducted business by visiting various village and town bazaars on weekends to trade in jewelry. But during the British era, the British put halt to all the commerce and forced the traders to deal only in indigo, which resulted in shutting down of local businesses.
Consequently, our great grand-fathers, Vamanrao and Bhausaheb Ashtekar arrived in Pune in 1922. After freelancing as goldsmiths, they started their own business in 1937. Sonya Maruti Chowk and the adjoining Saraf bazaar was a prime area setup by the Peshwas for jewelry trade.
With a view to expand the business, the generations thereafter operated the business with different names in different places.” He added saying that his grandfather, Rajaram Rangnath Ashtekar who worked with his uncles later along with his son, Krishna established KRA Jewelers in a form of modern showroom in 1978.
“My grandfather knew the names and families of almost all his customers. Such cordial connection with them had created a family-like relationship with three generations of our customers, employees and artisans,” he added.
KRA Jewelers has outlets in Baramati and Satara, while in Pune, the brand has twoshowrooms at Sonya Maruti Chowk, one at Kothrud, Chichwad and Viman Nagar each, with the latest addition at Hadapsar. With the upcoming festival season, KRA Jewelers has launched a discount offer on making charges with 20 percent on gold jewelry and 50 percent discount on diamond jewelry. The discounts will be available between 29 September and 31 October2019 at all KRA showrooms.
