Bollywood veteran and BJP MP Hema Malini on Wednesday said that Rashtriya Janata Dal president Lalu Prasad would have to wait till November 8 to know the winner of the Bihar Assembly elections.
Reacting to Lalu’s jibe that even she would not be able to prevent the BJP’s defeat in the ongoing polls, Hema said that the NDA would form the next government in the state. “He (Lalu) will have to wait for the results to know as to who wins the elections in Bihar,” said the 67-year-old actress-turned-leader who has been addressing several rallies across the state to drum up support for the NDA candidates.
She said Bihar had been ruined because power had gone into the hands of wrong people. “Bihar has acquired a bad image because of certain politicians with vested interests,” she said while addressing a rally. “But the time for change has come now. Elect the NDA government to ensure all-round development of the state.”
Hema, who was accompanied by BJP leader Rameshwar Chourasia at her rallies on Wednesday, quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi as saying the progress of the country was not possible without the development of Bihar. “There are no jobs for youngsters in the state which forces them to migrate to other states,” she said. “People from outside the state do not want to set up industries here because there is no guarantee of safety and security.”
Hitting out at Nitish Kumar, Hema said the chief minister had demolished the social structure by dividing people into Dalit, mahadalit, backward and forward castes. She also lambasted Lalu saying that the RJD president had failed to develop even his home district despite remaining in power in Bihar for 15 years.
She said the law and order in the state was so bad that she had to cancel her programme in Bihar.
