Pune, 6 December, 2016: Not stopping at supporting the UG and PG girls, the Foundation has also been supporting the school going girls under the 2morrow 2gether school project initiative. Apart from the scholarships, the Foundation also provides training and counselling to the girls it supports.
It was recently, that Foundation also gave away bicycles to those Lila Juniors who stay outside the 2 km radius of their respective schools. The idea behind giving them bicycles was to provide an easier way to commute between their home and school. Ever since the inception of this initiative, the Foundation has distributed 80 cycles in Kamshet and Gawadewadi schools last year. This year too, the Foundation distributed 21 cycles to the Kamshet School, in the presence of Mr. Goran Grosskopf (Chairman, IKEA Foundation. Similarly the Foundation distributed 34 cycles to the girls studying in the city schools namely St Clares, CES Kanya Shala & Utkarsha English Medium School.
A similar distribution was carried out at Gawadewadi, where 25 new cycles will be distributed in a ceremony by Mr. John Graham (Treasurer, Biltema Foundation). A special variety entertainment programme had been arranged in honour of Mr. Graham’s visit to India, where the Lila Juniors performed on a variety of songs depicting the different parts of India.
