Pune, February 27, 2017: According to government reports, over 400 people died every day in road accidents in India in 2015. That’s over 146,000 people. It’s a scary number, and very unfortunate too, considering that a large number of these precious lives could have been saved if we followed just basic road safety rules. Feeling the need to address this pressing issue, Mad Over Donuts conducted a power-packed 2-hour road safety awareness campaign in Pune to highlight what we can do. Mad Over Donuts’ employees, with significant support from the Pune Police, carried out a Road Safety Initiative on February 26. They were present a major junction in Pune’s Koregaon Park, passionately explaining to people how they can stay safe on our roads.
Dressed in their signature orange t-shirts, more than 10 Mad Over Donuts employees, along with District Manager Mr. Nitin Barse, held fort at the busy Koregaon Park junction. They were holding prominent orange placards that communicated fundamental precautions effectively. ‘Don’t Use Cellphones While Driving’, ‘Don’t Drink & Drive’, ‘Always Wear A Helmet’ and ‘Adhere To Speed Limits’ were some of the more important messages that were flashed. Use of effective graphics and the simplicity of the signs helped get attention on the busy junction. Passersby stopped and took notice. Little children were even seen engaging with the Mad Over Donuts employees, asking questions and seeking clarifications. To show appreciation to those citizens who followed traffic rules diligently, Mad Over Donuts showered their appreciation by distributing free donut coupons to 400 people. That sure added many smiles on the roads!
As road accidents have been on a sharp rise, we are happy to get all the help we can. We are thankful to Mad Over Donuts for their gesture and participation. Every person that we can reach out to goes a long way in making a difference. We could feel the people’s positive reaction and hope that it helps in reducing easily avoidable calamities, said Mr. Patil Police Inspector, Traffic Division, Koregaon Park, Pune.
Mad Over Donuts has always been socially aware and doing its bit to give back to society and has tied up with several NGOs in the past. Mad Over Donuts hopes that this road safety campaign, too, keeps the lights in many homes burning. Here’s to safer roads, a safer you and a safer India!
