MAAERs MIT, Pune organizes a National Level Inter-Engineering Sports Meet, “MIT SUMMIT” with 16 different sports, 34 individual trophies and prizes worth 7 lacs.
In earlier times, engineering students, despite possessing talent, could not manage to participate in National and State level sports events due to their hectic schedule and the absence of opportunities. In order to promote their skills and to give them a chance to present their sports abilities, the management of MIT decided to organize a sports fest, which would provide a platform for athletes of various sports in a span of 3 to 4 days, on an annual basis for all Engineering colleges.
Thus, MIT SUMMIT was first held in our college from 10th to 12th Sept ’04, with 9 events and over 1700 students participating from different colleges of Pune zone. In 2007, on the prestigious day of Gandhi Jayanti, MIT institutes celebrated their Silver Jubilee and on this day, Summit became a State Level Sports Meet; and by 2009, it became a National Level Sports Meet, with participation increasing to 3500 students from over 85 colleges.
Every year organization of MIT Summit has accomplished greater excellence and reputation. In the last 9 years, MIT Summit has widened its horizon to become a National Level Sports Event, with colleges participating from all over India.
