Pune: Every single day, newspapers are filled with headlines of gruesome crimes committed against women. We don’t need to look at statistics to confront the horrid truth. It is indeed a scary time to be a woman. This month, don’t just stand in support of women’s safety. Run!
Run for a Cause’ initiative aims at bringing to light different issues that plague our society. Last year, more than 1000 people participated in the run, to show their support for the girl child. The money raised as part of the run was donated to “Save Our Sisters”, an initiative of Save the Children India works to prevent trafficking of women and children from commercial sexual exploitation.
In its second edition, the run will bring to the forefront the issue of women’s safety. This has been a talking point across the country for a while now. The first step towards any change is to sensitize and mobilize the general public into collective action. Everyone who participates in this run will take an oath to make Pune a safer place for women.
India’s daughters need a safe home. Here is a small effort in that direction. Join us as we set a roadmap that leads to a safer, secure city for women in Pune through the Run for a Cause initiative”.
The Pune Police Force is part of this project and part of the proceeds collected via registration will be donated to them to make the city safer. To encourage our endeavour the Respected Joint Commissioner of Police Shri Sanjay Kumar has confirmed his presence as the Honourable Chief guest.
USK Foundation, with its focus on women empowerment, has pledged its support for this initiative and their Chairman, Mrs. Usha Kakade will flag off the Marathon along with Shri Sanjay Kumar.
