This is the first ever tie-up for Mercedes-Benz India with any private institution in the country
Both the institutes to commence the highly coveted Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics
New Delhi: Mercedes-Benz India, the country’s largest luxury automobile brand today, reinforced its commitment towards Government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative by signing a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Noida Institute of Engineering & Technology and Krishna Institute of Engineering & Technology in Delhi. This is the first-ever tie-up of Mercedes-Benz India with any private institute in the country, and underlines the need to create new avenues towards developing key competencies among students, which is vital to adapt to the fast changing industrial requirements of the country today. Present on the occasion was Mr. Santosh Iyer, Vice President- Customer Services, Retail Training & Corporate Affairs, Mercedes-Benz India, Dr. O. P. Agarwal, Managing Director, NIET, Mr. Raman Batra, Executive Vice President, NIET.
Mr. Santosh Iyer, Vice President-Customer Services, Retails Training & Corporate Affairs, Mercedes-Benz India said, “ADAM Course is Mercedes-Benz India’s unwavering commitment to contribute back to the society and we are extremely glad to have contributed to the Government’s ‘Skill India’ initiative. It is a one of its kind initiative in the industry and we are excited to expand it to private institutes in 2018. With the increasing use of technology in our sophisticated products, it is incumbent on us to upskill the current manpower with requisite engineering and technical know-how and to make them future ready. ADAM course is our successful initiative which has been consistently building these competencies and skills and positively benefits the young minds and the society at large. The Advanced Diploma in Automotive Mechatronics (ADAM) program is a Corporate Social Responsibility initiative by Mercedes-Benz India, which was propagated among students with the help of educational institutions. The Mechatronics training school at Mercedes-Benz India was started in the year 2006 with the aim of providing trained service personnel and engineers. To address this requirement, the parent company Daimler AG, Germany along with Mercedes-Benz India and the Mercedes-Benz India dealership network joined hands to start the program and train students to address the requirements of Mercedes-Benz technology and innovation. Only 20 students qualify to take the course per batch. Since its inception, over 500 students have successfully completed the program and have been placed within the Mercedes-Benz India dealership network. The Mechatronics program also provides support to Mercedes-Benz India’s state-of-the-art facility at Chakan, Pune.
Noida Institute of Engineering & Technology (NIET):
NIET has been accredited by NBA (CSE, ECE, ME & B.Pharm for 2017-20) and NAAC (A grade, 3.23), Being ranked 99th by National Institutional Ranking Framework, MHRD, Govt. of India in 2016; and is one of the India’s elite Engineering & Management Institutes. NIET is developing as a Centre of Excellence, imparting technical education and generating competent professionals with a high degree of credibility, integrity and ethical standards. The Institute has also made tie-ups with many MNCs to enhance student employability by manifold. Krishna Institute of Engineering & Technology:
KIET Group of Institutions (KIET) is a private engineering institute affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, situated in the Ghaziabad in the National Capital Region of India. The institute is ISO certified, NBA accredited, NAAC – Grade ‘A’ endorsed and also placed in Rank Band (151-200) for Engineering discipline in NIRF- India Ranking 2018. It consists of 10 academic departments with a focus on education in engineering, sciences, pharmacy and management. This college is known mainly for outstanding results in overall academic performance in all AKTU colleges because of its overall development of students. The ADAM course will be offered under the Center for Continuing Education (CCE) of the college. The initial plan entails commencement of the course with a single batch of 20 students and the selection of candidates will be strictly as per merit via an Entrance Test conducted by the college under the supervision of Mercedes-Benz India. Engineering Degree/Diploma holders are eligible to appear for the entrance test. Certificates for the successful students shall be jointly issued by the authorities of the college and the company.
Mercedes-Benz India with the Mechatronics program, creates a firm knowledge base for aspiring engineers and technicians in the society. It is a part of the core process to be inducted into the world of superior technology, innovation and passion. The process that Mercedes-Benz India has put in place will benefit not only the growing demand of the workforce for the company’s growth trajectory but also address the need of the industry as a whole. This Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Program is unique in nature due to the active participation and involvement of Mercedes-Benz in the planning of syllabus, supply of training cars, deputation of expatriate trainers and supply of tools & equipment for the students. It is a high quality program that Mercedes-Benz India has successfully sustained since 2006.
