Mercedes-Maybach S600 India launch confirmed 25th September

Fresh from the launch of the AMG C 63 S performance sedan, the German carmaker is now gearing up to launch its most premium offering yet, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 in India on September 25. Mercedes has been on a product offensive this year and the ultra luxurious Mercedes-Maybach S600 will be the 12th model in the brand’s ’15 in 15′ product strategy for the year.

The German carmaker announced last year that the Maybach brand – shut down in 2011 after almost a decade of losses – would be re-positioned as a double-barrel surname into the Mercedes family. Subsequently, the Mercedes-Maybach S600 was unveiled at the Los Angeles motor show in November.

Based on the new S-class, the Maybach S600 is 207mm longer than the LWB S-class and most of it, 200mm to be precise, has been incorporated into a longer wheelbase. The carmaker claims the car has the quietest cabin among any production sedan in the world. The feat was achieved by extensive testing in Mercedes-Benz’s new aeroacoustic wind tunnel, where experts were able to study the perfect design of the door under wind load.

Moreover, the windows and other glass areas feature chrome surrounds while the Maybach logo – a double M inside an arched triangle – adorns the C-pillars on both sides. Inside, the Exclusive trim package comes as standard. It includes a handcrafted fine wood trim across the entire rear seating system. Also fitted as standard are executive rear seats and a panoramic sliding sunroof.

The car will be powered by a 5,980cc V12 bi-turbo engine with an output of 523bhp at 4,900-5,300rpm and maximum torque of 84.61kgm at 1,900-4,000rpm. Mercedes claims the Maybach S600 will complete the sprint to 100 kph from standstill in just 5 seconds, while the top speed will be electronically limited to 250 kph. Transmission duties will be undertaken by a 7G-Tronic Plus automatic transmission.
