PUNE: Construction firms, Millennium Engineers and Contractors and Lunkad Realty (Sky One Corporate Park LLP) won Gold in the categories of Residential and Commercial/Semi-Commercial projects respectively at the PCERF- Kumar Beharay Construction Safety Awards- 2020’. The awards were held at Constro 2020 expo recently and were presented by chief guest, Suhas Merchant, President, CREDAI- Pune Metro.
The award in its 7th year was started in order to spread awareness on safety measures in the construction sector. Ashok Beharay, senior member of PCERF, Raghunanadan Beharay, Vishwas Lokare, President, PCERF and other office bears of PCERF including Sanjay Vaichal, Jaideep Raje and Neelkanth JoshiRamnath Bhat, Convener for these awards, Satish Nair, Safety Professional and Jury, Darpana Athale, Architect and Jury V. N. Solapurkar, Jury were present among the dignitaries.
Rohan Builders (Residential project), Amplus Energy Solutions (Infrastructure), SCON Projects pvt.ltd. (Industrial), Bhate and Raje Construction Company (Commercial/Semi-Commercial) and Kolte-Patil Developers I-Ven Townships (Debut site) won Silver in the same awards.
The awards this year received 27 participation entries from real estate developers, contractors, owners or companies across cities including Pune, Mumbai, Nashik and even from Uttar Pradesh and were judged in seven different categories, which included Industrial projects, Commercial/Semi-Commercial, Residential, Infrastructure, Innovation in Construction Safety, Debut of new sites and Small Projects.
The winners had implemented the directives under the BOCW (Building and Other Construction Workers) Act on their sites. Not only that, but the firms had done outstanding work in ensuring safety of labourers, providing them with secured accommodation and utilizing innovative documentation solutions at the construction site. The assessment process included two site visits for inspection by the jury panel, which comprised of engineers, architects and safety professionals after which the candidates were accordingly selected for the awards. One of these site visits was a surprice check.
Speaking at the awards, Suhas Merchant said, “The safety is more important then anything else. If we are certain about that, then we automatically start thinking about the measures to achieve it. The registration of labourers under the BOCW board is equally important.”
The jury panel included Ramnath Bhat, Satish Nair, Darpana Athale, V. N. Solapurkar, Bharat Arote, Dilip Patil, Avdhoot More and Rajesh Dake.
