Japan’s Yamaha has unveiled a prototype robot at the Tokyo Motor Show which can ride a motorcycle at high speeds. The robot is presently controlled by a remote and requires a special bike with stabilizers. The final goal of the robot is to be able to drive at 200Kmph, autonomously.
Motobot is an autonomous motorcycle-riding humanoid robot built around a fusion of Yamaha’s motorcycle and robotics technology. R&D is currently underway with the goal of developing the robot to ride an unmodified motorcycle on a racetrack at more than 200kmph.
The Yamaha Motobot aims to outperform the present nine-time MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi. Some consider him as a superhuman. Yamaha is best known for its motorcycles and musical instruments and Motobot is its next achievement.
