Pune, March 01, 2019: VIBGYOR Group of Schools, India’s leading chain of K-12 schools offering a unique educational experience, dedicated a complete day to Mother Earth and organised “Nature is My Valentine” event at VIBGYOR High- Yerwada (Pune). Over 60 children and their parents participated in the event. To spread awareness regarding E-waste, few students turned cartons into dummy garbage collection boxes to collect waste from the societies and areas around the school.
A variety of activities were organised in the school premises, which included an AV show on Eco Warriors. This helped children to understand how we are destroying our environment by excessively using plastic and not disposing of E-waste properly. To give hands-on experience of recycling the waste material, children were given used plastic and rough papers and were encouraged to make useful things out of the waste. To promote more usage of eco-friendly products available in the markets, stalls were put-up in the school by various NGOs. NGO Bamboo India displayed brushes, speakers, soap cases etc. made from bamboo that decomposes easily. NGO Ecoserve gave information about eco-friendly dinnerware, glass décor and tableware items etc. The concept of organic pens and pencils was shared with the participants. During this event, children also got a chance to share their thoughts on preserving the environment. Not only this, next week parents will be invited to the school again and seed-bombs will be given, which they can plant in their societies/complexes.
“Nature gives the man an experience to know more about oneself and within nature lies the cure for humanity. We need to cherish nature and its importance in our lives. Hence, at VIBGYOR High we teach students to appreciate and love nature and take care of the environment through different means like E-waste collection, plastic waste collection, dry and wet waste segregation, composting biowaste, saving water under the Go Blue campaign and planting trees. Nature is forever, and it teaches us to be happy and joyful and be rooted to gain heights. This day-long event held in the school premises will help children to understand the importance of healthy environment and ways and means to protect it,” added Ms Sapna Agarwal, Principal, VIBGYOR High – Yerwada (Pune).
