NSE Academy Ltd (NAL) and ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) sign MoU for development of the accountancy profession in India
Mumbai, January 18, 2019: NSE Academy Limited (NAL), a wholly owned subsidiary of the NSE and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the global body for professional accountants, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further develop and strengthen the accountancy profession in India.
The MoU signing between NAL and ACCA is considered significant, on the backdrop of rapid globalization which India is witnessing which is expected to continue, leading to a strong demand for accountants in the country.
NAL and ACCA will explore opportunities to secure essential and relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for members and stakeholders, to prepare them with the skills needed to succeed in a dynamic and demanding business environment.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Vikram Limaye, MD & CEO, NSE said, “As a part of continually seeking to facilitate the financial well-being of the citizens of our country, NSE has always focused on taking steps to create a large and knowledgeable investor base, which is critical for strong and vibrant capital markets. Our collaboration with ACCA is yet another step in the direction of building a large pool of financially aware citizens of which some of whom can become accountancy professionals.”
Speaking on the MoU agreement, Ms. Helen Brand OBE, Chief Executive of ACCA said, “I am delighted to sign this MoU with the NSE Academy, an organization that’s committed to promoting financial skills in India. They have played an important role in delivering on the country’s financial literacy agenda, and this partnership is consistent with our own mission to provide access and opportunity to people of ability around the world. While signing the MOU, Mr. Abhilash Misra, CEO, NSE Academy Ltd. said, “We are very delighted to partner with ACCA and build on the mutual complementary intellectual capital. We are exploring opportunities to jointly impart financial skills in schools, colleges, and provide Continuing Professional Development opportunities to members and develop joint thought leadership activities.”
Also speaking on the agreement Md Sajid Khan, Head of International Development, ACCA said “We are delighted to work with NSE Academy on this joint collaboration which would help students on financial literacy, personal financial skills and also provide a pathway to the ACCA Qualification or further study at University. Through this collaboration, ACCA and NSE Academy will explore the development of accountancy talent and promote and further deepen the interest of schools and colleges.”
This association of NSE Academy & ACCA and relevant Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities for members and stakeholders will ensure that they maintain and develop the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in today’s dynamic and demanding business environment. Additionally, it will explore the development of joint thought leadership activities and hold joint events that add value to ACCA’s existing Professional Insights (PI) work.
