The Indian Overseas Congress (IOC, USA) has expressed deep condolences on the death of Father Stan Swamy in police custody.
The National General Secretary Rajendra Dichpally has said that the NDA government should be held accountable for the death of a man who has spent his life in service of the poor and tribal people. He said that the Modi Government has been twisting the judiciary as one can see how bail was given to Pragya Thakur (BJP MP) and Arnab Goswami (Founder of Republic TV) and the same denied to Father Stan Swamy.
He added that the Government and judiciary did not even pay heed to the repeated pleas of late Father Stan who had asked for basic medical assistance in jail due to his fragile health and parkinson’s disease. He futher said that this is a black mark in Indian Democracy and hoped that the people who are responsible for his death are punished. He expressed his deep condolences to the family of Father Stan Swamy.
