National: OYO acquired Weddingz.in, India’s largest wedding company, released ‘The Weddingz Report’, a data analysis of the Weddingz.in app between the period of July 2019 – October 2019. The ad-free discovery and content app has recently crossed 4 Lakh+ downloads within a short span of four months since its launch. With an aim to provide consumers a one-stop-shop solution for all wedding-related requirements, the app offers an array of venue and non-venue services like photographers, make-up artists, designers, decorators, bands and much more.
Interestingly, the data analysis revealed that Tier-II cities saw the highest number of downloads across cities like Lucknow, Indore, Agra and Jaipur. A detailed analysis of top searches between the period of July 2019 – October 2019 indicated that for the upcoming wedding season, India is looking for venues, lehengas and banquets.
Amongst the hundreds of services offered by Weddingz.in, the demand for venue related offerings topped the charts, indicating the huge opportunity that exists for digitally-enabled venue discovery. Amongst non-venue services registered on the app, full-fledged wedding planning emerged as the top service to-be-weds opted for, followed by photography, mehendi and makeup. Women are presumed to be more involved in wedding preparations and arrangements as compared to their male counterparts. The data reveals that while women formed 60% of the total downloads, men were not too far behind with 40% of the app downloads. Nationally, the largest consumer segment was between the ‘eligible’ age group of 25-35 years, with every user spending close to 3-minutes (2.55) on an average, scrolling through the app.
