13th August is celebrated as Organ Donation Day. Keeping in mind the importance of organ donation, Sahyadri Hospital in association with P.M.Shah Shah Foundation and Vardhaman Pratishthan has organized a seminar on Organ Donation Awareness. This seminar is free and open for all to attend.
Gift a life with organ donation. However, most of us are unwilling to donate organs due to lack of awareness and understanding of the process of organ donation. There are many patients in our society who need organ donation to live a better life, though they suffer a lot due to unavailability of organs. There is a huge gap between no. of patients requiring organ transplants and organs available. Looking at importance of organ donation, P.M Shah foundation & Sahyadri Hospitals have come forward to conduct this seminar on Organ Donation Awareness.
In this awareness program many critical questions like, who can donate organs? What is the process for organ donation? What is the meaning of donor card? How to use this card? will be addressed by subject experts.
On this occasion, as a mark of respect and appreciation, P. M Shah foundation will felicitate 5 families who decided to donate organs of their brain dead relatives and have set a precendent for others to follow.
Dr. Prashantha Rao (Liver Expert: Sahyadri Hospitals), Dr. Bipin Vibhute (Liver Expert: Sahyadri Hospitals), Dr. Manish Pathak (Transplant Anesthetist: Sahyadri Hospitals), Ms. Sharmila Padhye (Medical social worker: Sahyadri Hospitals) and President of ZTCC Mr. Abhay Huparikar will participate in this seminar.
