PCMC announces cash prizes of Rs. 9 lakhs for hackathon winners, and incubation opportunity for startups selected in the pitchfest.

To further boost the entrepreneurial aspirations of youth and citizens of Pimpri Chinchwad City, to become the most inclusive economic powerhouse of the nation and to become the best livable city of the country by 2030, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has launched a variety of initiatives, one of which is the “PCMC International Festival of Future”. Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture is supporting the PCMC in this initiative. A press conference was conducted at MCCIA which was chaired by Commissioner Mr. Shravan Hardikar and Mr. Prashant Girbane, Director General, MCCIA.
To bring to focus on how the future of Pimpri Chinchwad will be, a variety of initiatives and activities like Future Skills, Future Health and Cities of Future will be carried out through the month of February. The Festival of Future will focus on initiatives around Future Skills, Future entrepreneurship etc., consisting of a hackathon, pitchfest, startup exhibit showcasing top 20 innovative startups of PCMC, along with successful Industrialists sharing their experiences and guiding the attendees on how to setup a successful company. These initiatives will contribute in driving the future economic growth and improving citizen quality of life.
Currently PCMC is on an exciting journey to increase the engagement of all the city stakeholders while leveraging on various initiatives and schemes of the government i.e Smart City, Swachh Bharat, PMAY, AMRUT, Ayushman Bharat etc.,. In the years to come, PCMC envisions a holistic and fully developed startup ecosystem driving the economic growth of the region and looks forward to boost and support it with a number of initiatives, one being the proposed startup event.
Briefing the Press, Commissioner Shri. Shravan Hardikar said, “This year’s focus is on startup related initiatives and future of innovation. Multiple objectives will be achieved through this initiative, firstly on an ongoing basis such activities will make PCMC a sought after startup destination in the country and towards this effort we have already launched an incubation center; additionally we also aim to provide aspiring entrepreneurs and youth with opportunities to take away learnings from various subject matter experts and workshops at this Festival. Lastly, to further augment this effort, through the Festival of Future we aim to provide opportunities and a platform for existing startups to meet potential customers and investors. We expect to have atleast 1000 people from PCMC and the corporate/investor/start-up community to be a part of this Festival.”
The proposed startup event shall have 4 key pillars:
PCMC has partnered with Industry leaders such as NASSCOM 10K Ventures and ASSOCHAM, and key influential stakeholders of the start-up ecosystem such as Headstart Network Foundation, 100X VC etc, for the Festival of Future initiative.
While the youth, students, and aspiring entrepreneurs can derive tremendous value from the speaker sessions scheduled at the conference, we also look forward to their participation in the hackathon, which gives them an opportunity to make an impactful solution that can better the lives of all in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
Start-ups and innovative companies can apply to be a part of the pitchfest as well as the innovation expo, which will give them an opportunity to be incubated by PCMC, a platform to connect with investors for their funding needs as well as extensive visibility and brand recall”
