PHUKET, THAILAND: The Phuket Hotels for Islands Sustaining Tourism (PHIST) conference 2019 took place at the Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort & Spa on 23 September 2019, attracting over 1000 participants. Organized by the Phuket Hotels Association, C9 Hotelworks and Greenview, the free-to-attend one-day conference discussed critical environmental issues and devise ways the tourism industry can tackle these issues head-on.
The event brought together 70 of Phuket’s leading hotels,
retailers and other key stakeholders from across the region in an effort to
discover new ways to fight against environmental degradation in Southeast
Asia’s idyllic island destinations. Workshops on the day included subjects as
plastic reduction, sustainable design and construction, marketing
sustainability and selling green meetings. The exhibition area showcased green
solutions allowing hospitality professionals to meet eco-suppliers.
“It is a great honor for us to host this event as we are actively seeking more sustainable solutions and alternatives to hotel operations” said Markus Kosch, general manager of Hilton Phuket Arcadia Resort and Spa.
“This is in line with our Travel with Purpose platform, Hilton’s corporate responsibility strategy to redefine and advance sustainable travel globally,” he added.
