Poetic Justice’s Events & Entertainment presented “The Shoorveer Awards”


Mumbai: Poonam Dhillon & Aneel Murarka, co-founders of Poetic Justice Events & Entertainment, India’s fourth largest private sector Bank, presented the first edition of “The Shoorveer Awards” a brilliant and unique initiative to honor, the saga of bravery of an individual and if an individual has displayed an extraordinary courage or act which has become an example for fellow citizens to motivate and follow and also bring pride to the country.

Poetic Justice Events& Entertainment Pvt. Ltd is a leading event management & production company, spearheaded by Poonam Dhillon & Aneel Murarka which runs successfully with their respective expertise. It now gears up for the upcoming set of awards “The Shoorveer Awards” the first ever awards on TV to honor the glory and spirit of bravery.

Sharmila Thackeray graced the award ceremony as the Chief Guest of Honor and shared a few words of wisdom.

The first of its kind award ceremony was anchored by the very charismatic Sameer Kochhar who looked nothing less than dapper in a black suit and Sudha Chandran who enticed the audience with her beauty and skills. Both of them got the audiences emotional elaborating the motive of the night.

The event commenced with the auditorium paying respect to the country by standing for National Anthem.

In keeping with the theme of the evening, the ceremony witnessed few engaging performances like Liza Malik and her team, Zenith Dance Troupe, Jhansi Team, Vinod Thakur of (Nach Baliye Fame) and many more with all of them highlighting the serious issues prevailing in our society. However, there was one amongst the few Nitin Bhandharkar who wooed the audience with his humor, wit and charm.

The awardees who pursued various acts of bravery got their due and were felicitated by pioneers of Indian Navy, Defense Services and Air Force such as Savan Kumar Tak, Vijay Mangi, Jagdish Sharma, Sanjay Jomani, DIG Coast Guard Chief – Ashok Kumar, Railway chief Satya Prakash & Rani Poodar, Dig Police Hemant Nagrale Maharashtra, Mr. Ahuja Atf Chief Mumbai ,Dr.Ruby Tandon, Shweta Khanduri, Udit narayan , Shravan rathod , Rohit verma, captain nangia , Umesh spheres in, Leena Mohre etc and many more who were overwhelmed to presents the awards to these ordinary yet courageous people.

Speaking passionately about “The Shoorveer Awards” Poonam Dhillon says “I do believe in being a pioneer and doing things not attempted before. The bravery acts these people have performed have gone unnoticed, hence we would to award these people for their saga of bravery and propel the people to pursue acts of bravery”

The idea behind this noble initiative to honor, the saga of bravery of an individual and if an individual has displayed an extraordinary courage or act which has become an example for fellow citizens to motivate and follow and also bring pride to the country s the brainchild of acclaimed Actress Poonam Dhillon & Industrialist Aneel Murarka, who are Achievers in their own right. . They now have put together a one-of-a-kind award function, a special recognition & award for all those who have pursued meritorious acts of bravery against all odds.

About the Awardees:

While bravery and honesty continue to gain trust, they have triumphed upon the hearts of millions with their acts of bravery and vowed the nation with their selfless gestures. To name a few are:

1) Rajinder Johar- Rajinder Johar has been making the voice of the disabled heard for over two decades. In 1986, he was shot in the chest and the spine during an attempted robbery in his house, which left him paralyzed for life.

2) Kamla Devi- 56 year old Indian woman kills leopard with sickle after it attacks her. She says battled with the animal for half an hour after it attacked her while she was tending her fields.

3) Arunima “Sonu” Sinha- She is the first female amputee to Climb Mount Everest. She is also the first Indian amputee to climb Mount Everest. She was a national level volleyball player who was pushed out of a running train by thieves in 2011 while resisting them. One of her legs had to be amputated below the knee as a result.

4) Rukhsana Kausar- She was born to Noor Hussain and Rashida Begum. A Class 10 dropout, she has been awarded the India National Bravery Award, for the killing of a Laskar-E-Taiba militant leader at her residence, using an axe and AK47 rifle. She has a younger brother, Aijaz, who helped her chase other militants and contact the police afterward.

5) Lajja Sharma- 54 years old, Lajja Sharma residing in Mumbai receives the Rajat Padak award in Physical Bravery Adults category for saving a Girl who was travelling in the local train. Ms Lajja Sharma bravely fought a knife wielding robber in a local train that was misbehaving with a young girl.

6) Vinod Thakur- He became a celebrity from the show India’s got talent in season 2 when this person without legs danced and rocked the stage keeping not only the judges but the entire nation guessing that from where he had got this talent and how come he is doing so well.

7) Shruti and Gore Bhatla- twin sisters of Kanpur, girls suffer from Osteogenesis Imperfecta, an incurable genetic bone disorder; they cannot stand or walk because of fragile bones in their body structure, which is caused by the disorder. The disease has also restricted their body growth and the twins are only three feet tall.

8) M.s. Deepa Malik- swimming against the strong Yamuna current, or riding a special bike or even taking a shot at the Paralympic Games, she has done it all. She has won bronze medal in Women’s Javelin Throw. She has got nominated in Limca Book of Records for her swimming records. She is associated with Himalayan Motorsports Association (H.M.A.) and Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (F.M.S.C.I.). She has done 8 days 1700 k.m. drive in minus degree temperatures. Even on an altitude of 18000 feet with oxygen shortage, she was able to sustain it all. It was – Raid De Himalaya. This journey covers many difficult paths including remote Himalayas, Leh, Shimla and Jammu.

9) Antra Srivastava- Antra Srivastav was awarded a trophy for her bravery by Amitabh Gupta for her heroic act to rescue her mother from robbers who attempt to cause her mother harm on her refusal to hand over the valuables demanded by them.

10) Seema Khinchi- A brave young woman who freed a six year old from sexual abuse in broad daylight in a busy street in Andheri, Versova; meet the entrepreneur Seema Khinchi who wants The S-Team to reach maximum women and children & help them fight their own battles.

11) Deepak Ghosh- Holding the dream in his eyes to wander the entire world, Deepak Ghosh battled his misery of being disabled and visited every place and city that he always wished to, setting an example for the rest. For his brave heart, this shoorveer surely deserves a token of appreciation.

12) Ibrahim Kutti- This courageous man saved a bus full of passengers driven by a irresponsible driver who was responsible for the lives of the passengers traveling but unfortunately couldn’t handle the steering wheel and risked the lives of the passengers. But when we have shoorveers like Ibrahim Kutti who pose the passion of saving the lives of innocent we surely know nothing can really go wrong.

13) Arvind Prabhoo- A man true to his job saved residents of the building which was burning into flames. Without caring of his life, he went that extra mile in order to save the people whose lives were in danger because of the fire occurred.

14) CRPF Commander R.K Singh- While battling for his life in a war, this courageous solider took bullets on his chest to protect his mother land. While civilians take a sound sleep at their homes, R.K Singh was battling for his live but fortunately the braver soldier managed to be one the shoorveer to be awarded at the “The Shoorveer Awards”.
