Pune, August 31, 2017: Research shows that early years are most critical years of learning and development. Early Childhood Education lays the foundation for life-long learning and development. Everything around us is changing rapidly and so must education, so as to cope with the current and future times and needs. Society needs new kinds of education that addresses the need of our planet, where education fosters overall development, promotes care and compassion in children, to help them grow, to be responsible citizens and contribute to a more purposeful tomorrow.
One such effort and initiative is taken by Early Childhood Association (ECA) to bring together stakeholders in the field of early childhood care and education on one common platform. The conference will be held on Saturday, 2nd September 2017, at the Sheraton Grand from 9 am to 6 pm.
ECA, Pune chapter is hosting a one-day conference aptly called PIECE -Pune International Early Childhood Edufest. It brings together best from the field across the globe to share their expertise, their knowledge and their experiences so that we can all learn from their best practices.
The sessions will cover varied topics ranging from Next gen Teacher Education by Farzana Dohadwala, Academic Advisor For International Curriculum, Inclusion and Integration by Manjushree Patil, Director Aaatman Academy to name a few. Ms. Leslie Falconer from Mother Goose Time, (USA) will address ‘Design Thinking’ in teaching and assessment and Mrs. Swati Popat Vats, President, ECA, will extend the discussion to give an overview of Global Practices in Pre School education. The conference promises to support and empower school teachers and leaders and spread awareness about the importance of quality education in early years. It is time we recognise and raise awareness about the vital role of early year’s education. Needless to say, this topic has become more prevalent and relevant than ever.
Ms. Leslie Falconer goes on to say that ‘Even in this day and age, many schools and parents are trapped in mass education where child’s individual needs and interests have no room for consideration leave alone effort. When play, music, art, nature and fun should be central to a child’s preschool life, many are still crammed in small spaces and made to write ABC and 123 on ruled sheets much before they are mentally and physiologically ready. Hence, she’s indeed very pleased and glad for this opportunity where she can share her knowledge on the importance of new learning techniques for children’.
The Early Childhood Association (ECA) in India was established in June 2011 in Mumbai and is founded by Mrs. Swati Popat who is also the President of The Podar Education. The vision of the Association is to create a resourceful and common platform for all Preschools, Educators, Students, Parents and the Corporate World. It’ll be an excellent learning opportunity for all teachers and parents from the city. The Early Childhood Association advocates and discusses development in the quality in their early years. It comprises of over 6000 active members and is popular in the education centre.
