Pune: The Naukri Job Speak Index for the month of July 2016 for Pune indicated a 14% decline in the hiring activity in comparison to July 2015. Increased hiring activity was seen in sectors such as BPO/ITES, Auto and Insurance whereas IT-Software and Telecom saw a decline of 21% and 32% respectively.

Suresh, Chief Sales Officer, Naukri.com said, “Post an impressive 22% Y-O-Y growth in June’16, though the index for July shows muted growth of just 3%, good news is the slow and steady growth in the NON-IT sectors viz., Auto, Hospitality, Education and Healthcare to name a few. Looks like this trend will continue and we can expect the index to move north in the coming months.”
Industry Sector Analysis:
A detailed analysis revealed that among the key sectors of the city, as mentioned above, ITES/BPO Services saw a robust in hiring over the year. Auto and Insurance also saw hiring going upwards by 17% and 8% respectively in the same time period. However, an important sector of the city, IT-Software saw a dip of 21% over the year.
Functional Area Analysis:
The job index spelt good news for Marketing/Advertising/PR professionals with the sector continuing to hire experienced talent. The demand for professionals in the sector saw an increase of 7% in the month of Jul’16 over Jul’15. Sectors like BFSI and Pharma remained stagnant respectively over the year. However, hiring of IT-Software and IT-Hardware professionals saw a downward trend with the index moving down by 14% and 15% respectively in the same period.
