Pune, December 2 & 3, 2016: The Kingfisher Ultra Pune Style Week successfully completed its season 3 this weekend at the Phoenix Market City. The two day event witnessed well-known designers showcasing their latest season collections.
The day one started with INIFD Pimpri students showcasing their annual collection with multiple themes- Freedom- My Pride, Indian Splash, Design Principles and Elements of Nature.The team was led by the INIFD Pimpri, Pune director Sheetal Thakkar with Varsha Rajkhowa- Miss Scuba International 2016 and the global ambassador for ocean conservation 2016. When asked about her win, Varsha said, “After winning an international crown a show stopper role makes me feel a grand welcoming by my home crowd. After winning Scuba International, I have learnt to build bridges rather than wall around me”.and; Soniya Shetty Singh- Mrs Commonwealth International India Charity 2016 as the showstoppers.
The finale show was by Hari Anand from Kochi with his latest collection- Resort Nautica, a luxury wear for men and women based on cruise weddings and holidays. Miss Tourism World 2007 walked the ramp for Hari Anand.
The day two began with Shruti & Mangaaysh as the host designers.
The designer duo has been styling and designing for almost a decade have the credit of designing costumes for Angelina Jolie and Irfan Khan for the Hollywood movie “Mighty Heart” and names like Elizabeth Hurley to their profile.
The second show comprised of two designers- Nazia Syed from Chennai and Sakshi Bindra from Delhi.
Nazia Syed showed her collection- Nod to Normcore which was all about androgynous pieces in bright colours that go easily from chic office wear to casual couture while Sakshi Bindra showcased her party-wear collection. She said “My collection is all about feminine soft silhouettes , I have used drapes and cuts to define female beauty. The Idea is to highlight the woman of today, who is confident and doesn’t mind experimenting with her looks while keeping it simple and stylish”.
The grand finale was by designer Abhishek Datta from Kolkata presenting his fall-winter collection. “In this realm of new horizon we see the emergence of womanhood where she comes in different avatar more fierce and combative who will stand against any injustice.” said the designer.
The showstopper for the grand finale was Shweta Raj who recently won the Miss Commonwealth Asia Pacific 2016 and was the Style Ambassador for the Kingfisher Ultra Pune Style Week. “I am so honoured to have represented my country, the feeling of being called as Miss India, that’s just something different. I feel on top of the world”, she said.
Kingfisher Ultra Pune Style Week is a property of the Storm Fashion Company and has its sister Style Weeks spread across 16 cities; bringing glamour and the latest season collections by designers from all over the country.
To conclude the ceremony, Gaurav Sharma of Storm Fashion Company expressed his joy; he said “Kingfisher Ultra Pune Style Week is being conducted in an open space for the first time. We want to take this concept further and introduce it to all our city fashion weeks. This is our small initiative”.
