Pune: City-based CHASA Institute of Design and Technology (IDT), a renowned fashion institute was the first to be selected to showcase its talent at the recently held New York Fashion Week (NYFW). Back home, the country is applauding the hard work and effort of CHASA IDT to promote handloom and encourage the noble cause of educating the girl child which was depicted through their especially hand-crafted collection on stage.
Sharing their immensely successful experience at the prestigious global fashion platform, the proud directors of the institute, Chandrakala Sanap and Anupam Goyal said that they feel extremely honored to be the part of NYFW. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis’ wife Amruta Fadnavis, who was the brand ambassador of CHASA IDT walked the ramp with elan as the show-stopper and attracted cheers and applauses by the Indian as well as international audience present at the show. The reason behind having “The best moment came when Amruta came on the ramp looking like a diva and everyone started to clap and voot for us. This was the first time I had seen people clapping and that added dollops of confidence in us,” said Chandrakala.
Being a farmer’s daughter herself, who rose to fame and achieved success through immense hard work in the fashion world, Chandrakala always wanted to be an inspiration for her students – many of whom belong to underprivileged backgrounds. And when the opportunity to participate in NYFW came, she wanted her students to be on the forefront. “Many of our students are daughters of porters (coolie) and farmers and it makes us proud to see that their hard work in creating this special collection under the mentorship of renowned designer Priyanka Rajiv received such a positive response at the show,” added Chandrakala.
Ever since the team came back from New York, applications from students across the country – including elite families as well as from villages – to study in CHASA have been pouring in. “We have been receiving entries from all spheres and it feels great that the parents are encouraging their daughters to do something in life. We wish to give these young talents the right guidance and training so they also go places and make the country proud,” said Anupam.
When you educate a girl, you educate a house. And when you educate a house, you educate a nation. And Amruta being an epitome of the woman of substance, who besides being the wife of the CM, is also a successful woman in her own right. “A banker, singer and a social worker, she wears many hats, setting the perfect example of a power woman and the brand ambassador for our brand,” added Chandrakala.
